Let it rot on the shelves until LEGO gets a clue.

This is prime subject material for some epic MOC that will blow everyones minds and get them to buy it.

Like turning this into a complete sphere with more dioramas in other slices or something

Hmm, a $1000 msrp set that requires MOC to make it epic.  Probably not the publicity LEGO would want.. 🤣

The more I listen to the Designer defend his decisions the more I hate this set. He wanted to save space but you can’t hang the set on the wall. Wait until we see the sticker sheets. The back is horrendous so where do you display it.

I'm sure there will be a MOC on rebrickable for a complete sphere.  Just buy 4x sets.  You can sell off the duplicate figs and have a small Stormtrooper Army 😀

I don't dislike it, but can't see buying it.  It's a unique/interesting concept, but not for $1000.  There are so many other sets that give the "wow factor" for much less money.  This is just like you bought an overpriced lego built display case for all your individually bought dioramas.  Unfortunately, the wow factor is more from the price tag or piece count than the final display piece.

You’d still be missing the necessary structure and plating for the sphere section. You’d essentially have a Death Star sandwich.

HUUUUUUGE miss on the GWP. Could have done something really epic. As for the back of the set, meh...its rough looking, but given that 99% of people will be slapping this next to a wall, it can be somewhat forgiven.

For me, the nail in the coffin is the price. $800, (maybe $850 with a crazy special over-the-top GWP) would be acceptable.

$35 list price on LEGO Shop-at-Home for this runt of the litter. A nigh beefier MicroFighter esque build.

Never expected this ugliness. What are we supposed to do with this?

No junk in this trunk.

I don’t think this is right… the hot tub stormtrooper is supposed to be on the back side right ? Is this moc?

An Instagram post (@maxbautde) showing the stormtrooper hot tub section. Possibly hidden in the top left of the build tucked behind the elevator shaft.

Other than the under-budget yet overpriced Tie Fighter, my chief critiques would be the sticker sheet and lack of leg printing for majority of the minifigures let alone no dual molded legs seemingly reserved for the singular Hot Tub Stormtrooper.

This review shows the precise placement roughly in the spot mentioned beginning around the 10:27 mark.

I have both UCS Falcons, both UCS Star Destroyers and the UCS AT-AT built and on display, and yet even though the new Death Star is generally bigger than any of them, it just feels....underwhelming? It's big, but it's empty. Its a display piece, but it's boring. Take the dioramas for the Emperor's Throne Room, the Garbage Compactor and Darth Vader's Meditation chamber, stick them in a generic wall frame and slap in a few basic sets (Death Star Cannon, Death Star Escape, Detention Block Escape) and you essentially get the same thing.

There is no engineering wow like the AT-AT. No detail and shine like the Falcon. Not even the big cheese wedgeness of the Star Destroyer. It just looks like a circular frame for smaller sets. Maybe if they had done something like the Batcave Shadow Box and had a spherical front that swung open dollhouse style to see the interior. Or something crazy like a spherical front that hinged open in both directions to have an interior with the sphere halves on each side. Something that shows pushing design to the limits (like the AT-AT) to make it look impressive inside and out. Something to justify the hype and the price... But they didn't. It's just lame, lazy, boring and overpriced, which describes too much of Lego SW these days.

I'm happily looking forward to buying the Venator over this. And fortunately, just like the Venator, they gave us the laziest, most underwhelming GWP possible for such an expensive set, ensuring there is no FOMO to drive an early sale. Harry Potter sets get more figures and better GWPs every single time they drop a big set. I don't know why Lego is so clueless in comparison....

hey @TheOrcKing thanks for the clarification

"This review shows the precise placement roughly in the spot mentioned beginning around the 10:27 mark."

wow not what I was hoping for on the back side

still will probably buy one for personal any ways.  makes me wonder if the GWP will be a permanent give away they will keep around as long as the set

That would have been amazing but instead we get this
