legodelorean
So has anyone taken advantage of the current deal that Target is offering? You buy the Lego movie and get $10 off an already discounted $25 set. The three sets are the 70805 Trash Chomper set, 70804 Ice Cream Machine set, and 70802 Bad Cop's Pursuit. I bought the movie and then got the Trash Chomper for $15, and then I bought 2 more sets for $25 a piece. I should have bought 3 movies, got each set for $15, then returned the two movies. Has anyone else done this?
46andTWO
I bought the set with the exclusive minifig yesterday and picked up a trash chomper yesterday. w/ red card savings it was $48.44 before tax, not a bad deal. the minifig is going for $18-$20 on the bay, has the Blu Ray and 3D versions of the movie, and the trash chomper at half price. As far as buying 2 more copies of the blu ray to get the sets down to $15, it specifically states on the receipt that you have to return all items in order to get the refund. So I think that's a no go.

naf
You I'd like all you 'smoothers' to know that I think you suck and that you are thieves. A random mini figure pack is supposed to be random. When a kid goes and picks one or more up and buys them they are buying that randomness. When you go in and cherry pick the more desirable figures without actually paying for the items, you are stealing value from the rest of the box by destroying the random distribution of those figures. So stop doing this, or find a way to feel good about the fact that you are a thief. Last time I was at the Lego store one of the employees was helping some people smoosh through the CMFs to find the figures they wanted to buy. If TLG didn't expect people to smoosh them, they would put them in solid packaging. What figure would be more desirable than any other? It all seems like personal preference. Some figures are rarer than others, they might put 3 copies of minifig A in a box, and 6 of minifig B, etc.
OurLegoFamily
I managed to pull a Jabba's Palace at a clearance price of $79 + tax off the shelf of the Pigeon Forge/Sevierville Wal-Mart while out here on vacation. The 9.75% sales tax stinks, though.

cladner
That is some serious smooshing. 120 in 20 min, That is a talent my friend..lol smh it would have been funny to see on a store security camera played at 4x - i was on the way to a hair cut appointment and didn't have any time to spare at all. normally i would just dump the whole case into a bag take it home and sort it but this was 2x as big and wifely wrath would warrant restraint. for once all the little parts were at the bottom but yeah - i think i have gotten pretty fast at it. i was thinking about it actually yesterday how my brain must have grown a few synapses in the process of learning to distinguish these and how i think it proves i'm not going demented. i think this would be a pretty hard test to pull off if you were going demented. don't you think? looking at a 2d cartoon character and then using your brain's ability to de and reconstruct the cartoon into a 3d representation in your cortex and then synthesize that with your incoming perceptions. this is how i can justify the time it takes to do this and still not feel like i'm being reimbursed for my time like at a lemon picker's salary. brain exercise. the more common ones just jump out at you - marge's head or purse, homers dollar bill or donut, barts skateboard or wheel, flanders tool box. those make up the majority of the box. for once i didn't bother keeping any more of the milhouse, nelson's or chief wiggums though i probably should have because they are rare. i have to go return another 49 homer marge bart lisa flanders tomorrow. if the sealed cases drop back down to 239 i would probably get another sealed set, otherwise i am through putting eggs in that basket. now i'm going to end up seeing Simpsons CMFs everywhere for the next 3 months. me and my brain can't wait for the next series to come out. exciter1
I picked up a Chi Temple from TRU for $54 and had my Mega Block Halo: UNSC Mammoths price adjusted for the extra 10% off today. I then proceeded to come home, park in the driveway, unload my daughter and our dinner. I was going to then back the truck into our garage. Yep, I left the door open on my daughter's side after unloading her. I totally bent the door backward after going a couple feet too far with the door open. I messed up both doors and the inside of the passenger rear door. Our house is brick, so it didn't hurt the house or garage, thankfully. So, any cost savings are negated 100 fold. Such as life, yeah me!

I think outsourcing smooshing to retirement homes would be a great benefit to all. And if you complete one whole set and have them physically in front of you your smoosh rate increases 10 fold...easily. First time smooshing and I went 16 for 18 and it took about an hour. exciter1
He was concerned about the toys. We don't care about your health I just returned a new/sealed Tower of Orthanc I purchased on EBay that smelled like cigarette smoke. They even had the top plastic wrapper and foil discarded in the LEGO box they shipped it in.
gorbasho
I just returned a new/sealed Tower of Orthanc I purchased on EBay that smelled like cigarette smoke. They even had the top plastic wrapper and foil discarded in the LEGO box they shipped it in. I bought a Quidditch Match once that reeked of smoke and the seller's response was "Items can come from a variety of homes and this is a normal part of buying on eBay". So I showed him that Item Not as Described cases were another normal part of eBay. Got the refund but he was a jerk throughout and it pissed me off.
