Hi Guys

Been collecting for several years now , think 2014 I started and wondering if there is a market for bulk buying? so my brickfollio says its value is $86k but I bet I have another 20k or more to add to that as I stopped adding to my brickfollio about 3 years ago, my fault I just got caught up with work and other things and lost track.    I have a pretty diverse collection and of course some turkeys too like Tumblers and what not.  I understand whoever buys it would be looking to resell it but wonder what sort of price I might get or if I should try sell it individually eBay/Amazon which was my original idea...ahh great plans :-).     Not in a major hurry to get rid, not costing me anything to hold them but just wondering if its time. I am still picking sets up reduced but my strategy has changed a lot since 2014.   Please don't flame me too much.   Happy Holidays guys.

If you are looking to maximize profit, sell it on your own. If you have access to Amazon, send it in and let them do the work.

If you are looking to unload it, expect offers around half of what the value is. Gotta leave enough meat on the bones.

Buying is the easy part. If you don't have an exit strategy already in motion, then you'd be best to stop doing the easy part. The longer you hold, the more likely you are to see a remake, or the demand disappear.

@outatime What area of the U.S. do you live? I think most large sellers would be willing to look at your inventory/haul it as long as it was in near proximity. 

@Ed Mack Would you be willing to share what options exist? I'm not looking myself but I'm curious.

I have worked with a large online reseller and have had success selling off thousands of sets on a consignment basis.  If you interested, please feel free to contact me and I will let you know the specifics.

In addition to the consignment option, there are a number of folks on here who buy large lots outright.  I've done four sizeable deals over the last year and know of at least five or six others that other people here have done.

I was in nearly your exact shoes six months ago. I considered all of these options, feel free to PM me if you want to hear my experiences.

The bottom line for many people like myself was that it was always easier to buy than to sell, package and ship.  

I'm with Ed....I have moved well over 1000 sets with the same guy Ed deals with. Fast and easy.

I'm sad to see this get wholesaled. This is worth quite a lot. Very reminiscent of when I started and the sets I grew my Lego business out of. Best of luck!

Some very sellable sets. 

With a large purchase like that, I would suggest putting those into a sortable spreadsheet. Buyers need to be able to figure out what they are getting. I had a great experience with my semi-large sale, but I also had tempered expectations of what to expect with returns. As an off-hand guess, I would take about 60% of Brickfolio value and start from there if looking to unload in one bulk purchase.

I also use the same guy that Ed and Thanos deal with. Totally changed my game. It not only freed up a ton of space, but time too, and his whole team is super nice and professional and they came to me to pick everything up. Allows me to spend more time with my family and not pay so much money to king Bezos...

Agree. I work with the company Ed, Jeff and Thanos do. Certainly worth considering the consignment option if you would like to move your sets faster. One thing I can assure you is your house will be more spacious. PM me if you want to know more my experience.

Make the money you deserve on your time and investments! You'll be surprised at some of the prices they can demand/fetch on various platforms we don't have access to - Amazon etc. Very responsive and professional team and best of all - take back your space. PM if you'd like to learn about my experience with them.

I have been accumulating way more sets than I have time to sell so I would be interested in knowing a decent way to make this hobby more enjoyable and have some space!  PMed.  thanks.

Main point of a thread like this is that there options for people like us.  I was great at buying.  Problem was that I never really thought about selling, that it was a rainy day project.  Thousands of sets and a decade or so later, I had my basement and storage office filled at work and wanted to sell my house and move.  The LEGO sets became a burden.  What's worse, they were slowly deteriorating and some were losing value.  What was a burden, became a boon and I was able to clear out my house and storage and buy a piece of property with it.  I even reinvested last year and that is paying off this year.

Investors, I don't often chime in on here anymore to give my two cents (think it's been since like 2014) but one of the things Ed just said is super important and not factored in enough by your average collector/investor. Lego sets don't always appreciate. There is a sweet spot to sell, Ed and several other vendors we've worked with have missed that sweet spot on some of their  items in their collections/while also allowing condition to slowly worsen on older items. It is very very hard to properly maintain and store items for 5-10+ years and keep them in decent condition. Seals are not meant to last forever, especially on larger sets with 25+ pounds of weight pressure on them. Watch how you stack things, even on shelves. Never palletize for long periods of time. Don't sit on vintage Star Wars sets for 20 years.
