Frank Brickowski Posted May 22, 2017 Posted May 22, 2017 (edited) "He then sold his idea to Lego and has already received about £20,000 in royalties for just three months of sales. An estimated 50,000 boxes containing his robin, hummingbird and jay have been sold around the world since their release in January. The box is priced at £39.99 in Britain." http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-3123117/Bricks-feather-Lego-lover-Tom-s-home-birds-fly-shelves-landed-wife.html 20,000 GBP are indeed 1% of 50,000 sets sold at 40 GBP. But LEGO says the designer gets 1% of NET PROFITS - so I guess the royalties should be lower. In the end LEGO could just pull off some Hollywood accounting and pay the designer ZERO. Since you as a designer have no other choice but to accept the deal on net profit, there's no alternative of course. But whenever you do have the choice you should opt for percentage of GROSS revenue, just sayin. Edited May 22, 2017 by Frank Brickowski 2 Quote
