I recently bought a few minifigures and notice there were vent holes in the head and the logo was a lil different.... Are these fakes

Some pictures would be very helpful, but the heads have changed over the years... especially the stud. Theories abound about the changes...

"Perhaps it is so kids can breathe if they stick a head with the holes into their nostril.  I tried and I can breathe through it but it was tough to get out."

Here's the article I was looking for...

http://lego.gizmodo.com/5019797/everything-you-always-wanted-to-know-about-lego

The stud was changed for safety reasons, but after some time they decided it was no longer needed. I think all new heads are hollow studs with no vent holes.

Great article (though dated - almost 8 years old now). What struck me the most is this part, especially in light of the whole GBHQ Ideas controversy:

Quote

• How long do they take to develop a theme, all the sets, start to finish?
Over the past few years we have been able to dramatically decrease the time it takes to develop and produce a new set. The average development period is now about 12 months from start to finish, down from 2-3 years previously.
