LEGO play station from 1989... history?

Hi folks! I'm looking for some info/history on this LEGO table... the pegs have LEGO on them, and there is copyright info on the bottom from 1989. The seats have LEGO & Duplo logos in them. We bought it in Cambridge, Ontario Canada.

Any information or help you can provide would be great! Or, if there's someone I should get in touch with regarding this table, that would be helpful too.

Looks like something you'd see in a LEGO store or Legoland, other than that I've never seen one exactly like this so i can't really comment.

 I couldn't find any info on it yet but It looks like something you'd see in a K&B Toys to keep your kids distracted while you shopped. I'm not sure if this was for the average consumer.

If that's the case, it belongs in museum. People go to jail now for things like that these days...
