I think most of the seasoned investors have a "plan" and generally stick to it. Just curious what people plan on for the seasonal flips and QFs.

Example, I sold a few MMs in that nice QF window, but I'm now sitting on 8 or 9 hoping they get rare at xmas time. If they dont spike again (very likely) I don't really want to sit on them for a few years as they were mostly bought with only minor discounts.

I consider this gambing, don't have the personality to return them all to stores. I think these are different than other QF sets (I don't mind if something like SW doesn't spike, it will eventually)

All this is gambling. So is the stock market, 401k's, ect...

I think there will be plenty of scooby stuff around at xmas. Star Wars mania could soften demand for it too. Still it would be hard to lose money. Maybe a little on fees. Money will be made on everything that last week in Nov and first two of Dec, even stuff that's in stock some places.

Why not return them? Store employees don't care. I never heard of not having a personality to return something. If it's within the store terms what is the problem?

Customer Service Agent: No problem sir, we can return these 8 MMs for you. Is there anything wrong with them?

Customer: Well, nothing wrong with the set itself but I couldn't flip it for a profit because you guys restocked your shelves too quickly.

CSA: Oh, I see... Well our 90 return window is for customers and not resellers. Let me call my manager over to see if that's OK.

Customer: Oh wait, sorry, that was the "MM - Mystery Mansion" set that I couldn't flip... These are the "MM - Mystery Machines" and I decided not to give them to the kids that came to my child's birthday party a couple weeks ago. Sorry, I just can't keep all these abbreviations straight in my head...

CSA: Well that makes perfect sense, let me start that return.

Customer: Thanks, I appreciate it.

CSA: You might want to check out Brickpicker.com .. they have tons of set abbreviations. You should learn them since that will help clear up misunderstandings the next time you need to return a cart full of merchandise.

It's all a gamble really, but it's still a better investment than most things.  Even the worst lego sets don't depreciate anything like comic books or sportscards, currency, etc.  Plus you can always open em up and build em!
