I'm a new member, born & raised in Colorado, trained in California and Texas, studying in Oklahoma.

I've always loved Lego, but only just started getting into Lego investing early 2013. After I met another Lego invester, he turned me onto this site. And...here I am!

I look forward to chatting with all of you.

Well, definitely a warmer welcome already than the car forums I hang out on! :P Seriously, us car enthusiasts can be a real tough crowd sometimes, ha

Thanks for the welcome wagon!

As a Sooner student and fan of BSG I thoroughly approve of the direction of this welcome thread.

Have my undergrad and grad degrees from ASU so I'm a Sundevil at heart but to be totally honest I root for anyone playing UT.......I despise the longhorns and don't even know why lol I live in Texas now so I go to the red river rivalry every year!

Well it's certainly better to live in Texas and despise only the Longhorns, than my position where I live in Oklahoma and despise everything except the Sooners. I've lived here for 2.5 years, and I will be leaving as fast as humanly possible upon graduation, lol.

Your right, that would be worse!

Mkay, so here is a new guy question. Does Texas, especially the Dallas area ever have Lego conventions?

There is one I know of every year here in Dallas. The name and date escapes me at the moment. The cool thing is that I have 3 lego stores and a Legoland discovery center all within 25 minutes of me.

*EDIT* it's called brickuniverse and it's in November.

I've lived in Texas and Oklahoma for a very long time.  (I do not now.)  I could never tell a difference.  I liked both.

I liken Oklahoma and Texas to NorCal and SoCal (I lived in both North & South). Just like California where there are subtle differences but it's still basically one culture and one way of doing things and you'd practically never get either group to recognize that. Oklahoma = NorTex as far I'm concerned.

Speaking of cars, there is a Racers category here with a "vehicle designs you would like to see in LEGO" sort of topic pinned if you are interested to check out and maybe chime in. A number of car MOCs can be found in there as well.

Neat, I'll have to track that down and check it out.
