Has anyone tried to repair 9v train motors before?

Featured Replies

Just like the title says. I have one that runs for about a minute but slows then stops completely. I know the seller I got the lot from washed everything including the track and motor so I am assuming its just cooked.

I took it apart and there is a unique motor in there that looks like it would be impossible to find. Anyone repaired one? Thanks in advance!

There is a youtube video of a guy replacing the motor with a Power Functions motor. Have not done it myself but as these are not over $50 seems to be easier to buy another.

I have no idea what I am talking about.

I'd replace it with a new PF motor if you can. They're more powerful and have better performance than the older 9v motors.

You could also check the motor brushes too. That's what usually goes bad first on an older motor.

I think ill try the pf motor route. Yeah I took it apart hoping it was something I would be able to clean or repair but unfortunately not so much the case. It has one of the little sealed motors in it. Oh well
