For FedEx, you are billed at a later date to your Ebay invoice. Beware: this can be up to a month later and I have found that a minimum of 4 dollars per package gets added as a "miscellaneous fee." This is long after your buyer has their lego set.

What is up with this miscellaneous fee? I used to use Fedex on eBay because it appeared to be cheaper than USPS but then I got boned on the monthly invoice with those fees.

I've never had any fedex misc fees added to my ebay invoice, maybe it depends on the service used?  I've used fedex ground a few times for larger packages and all I got charged for was the initial label.

I haven't seen one in store in months. I think someone said that some stores were keeping them in the back room because they took up too much shelf space. I know they had the decoy boxes for awhile.

I remember seeing decoy boxes for sets like the 10189 Taj Mahal. If Lego stores were keeping them in the back room because it was taking up a lot of shelf space, why would they put a decoy box that is the same size? It takes up the same amount of space. My guess is that they just have them in the back and if someone asks for one, they bring it out.

To prevent shoplifters from slipping an SSD into their pocket and walking out the door.

I think it's because kids love to take big sets off the shelves...drop them...damage the boxes...and then put them back.  Decoy boxes help keep the actual boxes in decent condition.

Research, man, you could've saved at least $30 shipping that thing. $83 is outrageous.

For anyone thinking about selling a SSD now under the current conditions I'll share this. I bought six sets in the last week before it was gone but could really only afford four. Two boxes were a bit dinged up so I decided to ebay them rather than return. Thought I could make $100 each or so. Someone hit the buy it now at $650. Ebay and pp fees were $85 which I expected but the killer was UPS insured from NC to Utah was $83! The set was $426 with tax from amazon so that only leaves $56 in profit. Really not worth the trouble. I'm going to move some smaller sets rather than sell the other one, these need to fetch at least $800 to make it worthwhile.

I can see why it went up to 650 so fast. Any less than that and I would not have made anything.

In that case it might be a liability issue... kid crushed by falling SSD... not sure if it would sad or ironic, or both...

This helps weed out the sellers, no offense to anyone here. Do your homework before shipping and calculating your costs. $83 is nonsense even for a set this size if you ask me

Did it fly on a private jet? That's crazy.

I got my SSD today from Amazon and it's in collectors shape. I should consider getting the box graded and then list it on eBay for $10,000 with a 9.8 grade. :) I've see the UCS MF go for 10k so anything is possible.

@ amazon backordered. Due in stock 7/1

looks like 'merica got another production run too.

Wonder if Lego would ever catch on to producing, but not releasing a production run and then offer it for sale starting in November.

The thing is that resellers will gobble up this last production run. Then we will see a glut of them on the after market for the next year or so at $650 - 800. When you figure in shipping such a giant collectors set and fees it doesn't really seem worth it.
