Yikes. I am racing to lower all my alternative listings. Game over for GWP and exclusives at least on amazon. They are inquisitors at this point. I fear not much will emerge unscathed.

Haven't heard anything since he started a return a week ago until he finally just messaged me yesterday. In all my years I think this has only happened once to me and i was a cheap set probably picked up from Walmart or someplace like that and let it go for obvious reasons. This came from Amazon or Lego and never had this returned from previous sales. I think most people would not wait this long which makes it more suspect. Weird that he asks if it's "even worth sending back at this point". Almost sounds like a kid ordered it on his parents account and a friend told him how to handle it to get it free.

Given your experience/expertise here I'll do as you suggest/say. I've fought damaged/opened returns before but nothing like this. I've heard of people's accounts getting suspended during investigations and just worried about requests for purchase documents, etc leading to who know's what headaches/trouble.

Make sure you compare the weight when it arrives against your shipping weight. If it also sounds weird when handling the box, it could be clear evidence they tampered with it. Most of the time when they replace the set with junk or steal minifigs, there is a clear discrepancy in the weight and I have no issue applying a significant restocking fee.
