You see, this is one of those sets that has varying demand worldwide. Here it was on the shelves of the most well known department store as an exclusive so it  has no rarity value whatsoever. I guess holding it and selling abroad in a year or two would be the best solution but for such low cost sets, it may not be worth the hassle.

Nothing I can do now, though except wait and see how the market evolves.

I think these will skyrocket again as soon as EOL is confirmed.  I have over 40 already packed and ready to stick and address label and stamp on.  I think these need to be hoarded for just weeks not years ;-)

There are 216 sellers on Amazon, many with inventory in the hundreds, and growing daily.  I've been monitoring inventory levels, and they don't seem to be selling much even at under $40 shipped.  Are resellers the only people buying RIs anymore?

Exactly.

I stopped grabbing this one about a month ago. Way too Saturated for any return this year.

This set does just fine for me as a QFLL, after today's Target orders I went ahead and posted another 20 of my stock on eBay at $39.75.

i'm in the best match top of the page position.  If the non functioning Target listing will just disappear I will start selling again.

I sold 10 in less than 24 hours the other day.

It is not a lot of bucks but it helps.

i have sold 6 of these on amazon over the last week, averaging a profit of 9.50$ each. this seems like a high demand item to me

If anyone got a huge pile of these and wants to trade some for various other sets, PM me.  I did not post this as a Brick Trader because it would take so long to list the sets but I have Hobbit, Ninjago, Star Wars, Friends, etc.  Same stuff we all have.

Yeah you are right but I really kick myself for following the hype. There are just SO many on bricklink that there will be at least 2 more SW movies out before these things are scarce again.

It appears 2nd release is completed and no further releases anticipated (by LEGO Shop at Home at least).  With the new set hitting 10k for review already within 45 days, there's clearly a demand for this and could itself become a series of vignettes.

Despite the flood Sales Rank continues and still commands price premium.  That's more than one can expect post holidays.  If I see these in the wild, would still get them....and sitting on a small mountain already.

Also remember its a must have for any Cuusoo/Ideas collector. (that would be me) Also I have one put aside for my daughter when she graduates (she is only 5 now) I think the collectibility of this set has many facets that will keep it popular IMHO

I'm surprised to see disappointment from those that hoarded these. Anyone in Southern California that want's to shed these like a bad exo-suit, give me a buzz. This set is absolute solid gold in my eyes. In the US, just the empty box can be sold for $12 shipped. Solid. Gold.

I'm with you.  If any of you want to get out of your investment at the $20 buy-in, I'll help you unload them.  I QFLL'd them for more than 3x RRP when they were TOOS.  These will go for gold again.  If you're impatient, then you are in the wrong game, because if you can't wait out a $20 set to double or triple it's value, there's no way you'll be patient enough for a Modular or SSD to double or triple it's value.

The problem here is that they are not even selling at their face value whereas the Delorean did sell out and is appreciating nicely! I get the modulars and can see the demand and  big Star Wars sets are a no brainer but this one just does not do it. Perhaps here people are more keen on licensed products and if the BBT house were released it would do very well as it is something people can relate to.

There is always the international market and I am not knocking the set itself - rather my own inability at that time to value the internal demand for a set. Fortunately, I got it right with the SSD, Town Hall and Millennium Falcon so there is hope.
