This wouldn't be the first time. Does anyone remember Series 9 of the Minifigures stating "Retired" and "Sold Out" at the end of three months and then out of nowhere after a couple weeks they had another batch of stock available making the series last another month at least?

It could not say sold out and retired at the same time, because "status" is a single value field. Maybe you meant "retiring soon" tag and "sold out" status?

My store, grain of salt, said they have confirmation for RIs to arrive at end of September. Will see if they could call me when it does show up.

One buyer has not paid me for my last one yet (been a week), perhaps it`s a good thing. Would suck if this is it, I shouldn`t have sold mine. Oh well win some lose some haha.

Yes, I should have stated the listing had a "Retiring Soon" tag with a "Sold Out" status. All this talk of everything being retired is wearing me out I can barely think straight. :wacko:

How are you losing if you are selling an item for x5 what you paid?!?

I got one of these and sold at 70 bucks. I'm happy. I made money. Move on. I feel everyone is so tunnel vision on this etc when there are so many other deals to be had. It's not coming back. If you have some great. If it does come back you will be notified immediately through this thread. Until then this horse or lego set has been beat to death.

Then situation is not comparable. This is the first time we see "no longer" statement on official page, not in some email, or over the phone

I didn`t sell it for 5x what I paid. I cleared ~$53 each on Bricklink and pain $24.99 + tax. That`s in Canadian $s. So it`s a double, and it would be disappointing if the set were to be sellable at $100. I don`t sell on Amazon like some members, so that isn`t an option for me at the moment.

Go back to the beginning of this thread and read my comments. Basically I stated that it was my impression that LEGO did not want to make this set in the first place and outside pressures made them do so. I don't think this was a big money maker for them and that it was aimed at a very small target audience, so why produce a ton of sets?

It just so happens they got some publicity from the set, but it probably didn't change their production plans, but any publicity is good publicity. Honestly, most resellers didn't pay attention to this set. They were busy buying Exo Suits. When LEGO changed their purchase limit to one, I knew it would be a hard set to buy and valuable on the secondary market, so I bought a bunch at $30 on eBay.

But as was said previously, The Tumbler also has same message. Doesn't that make the note less relevant? Seems like a way to cut down on CS calls more than anything.

if I was the seller that sold my RI to you for $30 I will open a case against you and get my RI back since the $30 you paid me was "not as described"

 

So I can sell the returned RI for $90 on amazon.

For me it was the difference between sold out for RI and TOOS for exo suit. That kind of gave away their plans. I had enough balls to buy 20 from TRU (besides 4 from lego, but that was mostly accident), but now I sure think I should have got bigger balls.

Good luck with that...We'll see if it works out.  LEGO can always change plans, but honestly, I think they are past this set and onto others.  Their wording tries to soften the blow to some people still looking for this set.  It's like saying, "Hey, the set is done, but if you scour the B&M LEGO stores, you might still find one.  Good luck!"

If Lego didn't word it like they did, they would receive a lot of angry calls and emails saying that people want the set, but don't want to pay $70+ to a reseller to get it. A lot of people who still want this set will scour the B&M stores just to see if there are any left, but will most likely be none left.
