Just an update for collectors/investors in Canada...GE's are sold out at TRU.ca and Amazon.ca only show's 1 left.  Surprised me, I was hoping to wait it out until LEGO Shop at Home is sold out (eventually) first before buying another GE at TRU.ca to delay spending but looks like TRU ran out of stock first.   

 

We don't have have GE's in our Walmarts, Chapters/Indigo, Targets, Mastermind, BB/FS etc. and apparently out of stock locally in my area at all 3 Lego Stores in Toronto and Lego Discovery Centre so I would recommend folks pick up at least ONE at LEGO Shop at Home before it's gone from retailers.

 

I purchased another GE today, used my available VIP pts and luckily balloon cart still available as bonus.    

 

*SSD still available at TRU.ca but I decided to use funds on GE.

Thanks for pointing that out.  This morning I didn't notice 2 separate listings and saw only 1 that indicated being sold out...weird...usually it's in the 'hard to find' section.  I guess TRU.ca still have stock so no urgency for now I guess. 

 

I'll keep my order from Lego anyways and get my balloon cart to go along with my eventual modular city/street

tough call... so much speculation. if you have the funds/guts/patience, maybe order 1-2 for now and see what happens next few weeks/months. once it's gone... $500 will seem like a steal

really regretting not picking up ssd's few months back with bogo 40% off or something like that at tru. hard to pull the trigger on expensive sets.

They had bogo 50% around February. I'm pretty sure I heard from BP about it... and everything including every SW exclusive was on included... wish I had pulled the trigger on all of them...

It was In January. I picked up two SSDs for $846 after tax (13%). Should have bought more!

Yeah, as others have said... around January/February, ewok village and arkham asylum were the other big sets available for bogo 50% off I remember. obviously ssd's was the correct choice if you had the funds. picking up at least 4 would have been sweet... lesson learned.

maybe tru will have another bogo 40-50% off this summer with good sets. I want to see a decent polybag special too like Robin supercycle last year.

Sorry to be off topic on the GE again (hehe)...is it just me or do other Canadians remember VW TI Campers availalbe at Tru.ca too?  It's completely gone from the site now...not even 'sold out' status.  I just bought another Camper at LEGO Shop at Home to increase my inventory...just incase this set is gone this summer with Mini release.  Buy and hold until Xmas or 2015 and beyond should see decent appreciation if it does go EOL in the next month or two.   

FYI...currently GE and VW are both out of stock at LEGO Shop at Home with later ship dates.  GE still available at TRU.ca but VW has been long gone from website.

Just got Fedex notice my GE and VW arrived at my front door...tempted to leave work and bring my sets in to meet the others in my closet.  Hopefully both these sets will be gone/sold out/retired sooner than later.

funny, the supervisor or manager at my local Discovery Centre helped cash me out and asked if I was building a city lol. I said no, they are all the same set. he said go for the TH since that is next to go... whatever, nobody really knows but I will be stocking up on GE and PS long before I pick up one TH. aside from investing point of view, personally I like the build/collection of GE, PS, and PR more.

Yeah I started this whole lego thing because I'm a huge Star Wars fan. The more I get involved in this lego community the more I'm appreciating other themes etc. especially these modulars. I've now started to collect them personally starting with my first GE today.
