Newish to lego, might finally have enough bulk lego to try and build something other than the random houses the kids try to make. Question is: are there some basic modulars that can be built without too many headaches? I looked up instructions to the bike shop/cafe and I am limping together a pink one, is there a good starter building that I can sub pieces with?

  5. After the demise of Railbricks.com, things were a bit "empty" in the LEGO Train railroading world. Luckily Cale Leiphart (a famous LEGO Train AFOL) has stepped into the void with a few buddies and today marks the launch of http://www.brickmodelrailroader.com. I'm hoping they manage to turn this into an ongoing stop for LEGO Train addicts. Take a look yourself.

  6. I don't know who of you followed this, but quite some time ago there was this boy with autism who really is into LEGO and into the titanic, so he wanted to build a gigantic LEGO Titanic. It seems as if he's finally been able to build his dream and honestly I'm so happy for him! Here you can find his homepage: http://www.brynjarkarl.com/ Maybe some of you also appreciate this. To me this is so beautiful, because to me LEGO never really lost it's magic and this boy and his dream of building a titanic just represents a lot of this magic. I always feel reminded of my childhood and I'm just so happy if I see LEGO (don't know if you people can follow ;-) ).

Hello All, Nearly everyone loves the new 42009 crane. Largest Technic set to date. The possibilities are endless. I have recently MOD'd mine out to capture the brilliance of the Liebherr 1500 8.1. Now, there is a youtube video going around trying to lift the 8070 supercar with the crane. Failed pretty bad. Would a much larger crane do the trick? Check out my postings to find out! http://mocpages.com/moc.php/388884

  10. Here is my rendition of a drag racer “funny car.” Not built for looks, but for acceleration. This was achieved by both including raw power but also limiting the weight of the model (989 grams), and also reducing friction as much as possible (thus the odd front wheels). This build was somewhat inspired by Lego 42050. Contrary to many, I actually really like Technic set 42050. Not for looks to be sure, but at least the looks were consistent with the name usually given to these cars (i.e. “funny car”; TLG mercifully titled the 42050 “drag racer” but I think “funny car drag racer” fits better). The obvious lacking in the set was any speed. How can you have a drag racer a…

  12. I would love to just sit down and build something like I did when I was a kid, but I find myself suffering from blank page syndrome. Even if I go in with a goal in mind, like building a robot or whatever, I just can't get started. Along those lines, any suggestions on making a bin/box/whatever specifically for this sort of free building? I've got tons of Lego bricks, which I've tried to sort by color, but that compounds the difficulty of free building. I'm thinking it would be good to make a mixed box of parts that are explicitly unsorted.

Hop onboard this crafty little Trolley Bus low on piece count but high on charm. Build a few busses for your town with a color for each zone or customize your own design by adding train pieces for an authentic trolley in your train layout.

  18. The world's most recognizable energy company has constructed a massive industrial facility to store oil and petrochemical products for your energy needs! Add this realistic fuel terminal and storage facility to your train layout for an authentic industrial district. The design consists of easy to source, common parts with economic design to help create a sophisticated, professional, clean construction. The layout borrows real pipework engineering with large storage tanks, buffer tanks, bridging pipes for train and marine setups, underground field units and terminal pipeline to a tanker truck fueling station.

  19. Minimalist materials and straight lines define the Palm Water Modern House influenced by organic and natural forms. Designed with modular features like a removable second floor, essential modern details flow through the architecture including stone walls, an infinity pool, hanging gardens and a unique palm tree design.

For those in the Technic community I know there has been some interest in trying to speed up Sheepo's Mustang. It is a great model.... but a little faster would be nice. I know there has been at least one member trying to add a pneumatic engine to the beast..... something that I also would like to try. Anyways, here is my version of Sheepo's Mustang..... with an RC Titan motor. Plenty of details of the build, specs, etc. are on my MOCpages site: http://mocpages.com/moc.php/412797 Because it is all there I am not going to repeat it all here. But really fun build. Read all about it and share if you'd like. Any comments are also welcome..... although preferably those in t…

He's magnific. He's the bravest secret agent in the world! Danger Mouse. Power House. He's the fastest, he's the greatest, he's the best! Danger Mouse. Danger Mouse! DANGER MOUSE!!!! Turns out my timing of this couldn't be more perfect seeing how the series has just been brought back this September a couple days ago to CBBC.

  23. Downhaul Docks is a quaint village style fish market inspired by the coastal fishing towns of the northern Atlantic Ocean. Designed on a peninsula layout, the facility has three ports of entry for small, medium, and large ships. The base floor has room for seafood processing for the fishermen to trade with the sellers. Buyers can enter the upper market for fresh catches of the day or wander down to the lower dock to charter a boat of their own. With sea flags, a boardwalk style pier and nautical elements, this intricate design will surely roll with the tide in your bustling town! (Requires 756 pieces total.)
