  • Star Wars May the 4th Lego Specials Start Tonight

    Jeff Mack

Tonight starts the LEGO May the 4th Star Wars Event.  To start with, you at least get 20% off most Star Wars items.  On top of that you get your Double VIP points on all Lego Star Wars products which ends up being a decent discount.  Based on discussions in the forum, it appears that many are starting to eye up the 75094 Imperial Shuttle Tydirium

    • Free shipping on all orders with no minimum.
    • Free 30602 First Order Stormtrooper (pictured above) with your order of $50 or more of LEGO Star Wars products.
    • Double VIP points on all LEGO Star Wars products.
    • Free LEGO-fied Star Wars The Force Awakens poster with all LEGO Star Wars purchases.

All offers are good from April 30th through May 4th while supplies last at all LEGO Brand Retail Stores and online at LEGO Shop@Home.

If you were lucky enough to get one of these invites below, you can get early access to a LEGO retail shop and hopefully get yourself one of those Limited run Space Slugs :)

So what happens to all of the ones that didn't get handed out? I saw my stores list and it only had 8 people. So what do they do with the other 20?

I was told that they were instructed to ship them back after the VIP event ended

I met Jaisonline and another Brickpicker member at the early opening.  I yelled "reseller" when Jaisonline was checking out!

My son Max waiting to go in...

...and i sneaked up on Ed from behind while he was chatting with someone and yelled, "so which sets are CEO worthy?".  true story.

Was able to get 2 Imperial Shuttles in store along with the Space Slug and the freebies.

Also got to meet @BoomBoomFlash and @sunkenbrick in store as well! @Nsheppard9101, maybe next time!

Our store was not as busy as I really expected it to be. Plus, as others have mentioned, Assault on Hoth looked better in person; I'm still waiting on it though.

Yeah PMed the other guys. If I had time I would have stayed longer but had to get to work at 10. Next event we can plan to meet up or something for sure!

Afraid of being seen buying it? :)

A: What is your life's most hidden secret?

B: Buying Attack on Hoth on release day...

i heard the employees and mgr  talking and heard "15 were left...the rest will be sent back to lego...will probably be given away to people somehow".

also met a fella named dan from pennlug who use to run the early philly brickfest live .

btw , ed and me had the only kids there except for another couple.  thus 4 kids total in 60 mins.  kinda sad for a toy store.

I saw 3 people pick AOH in the VIP pre sale hour. I scooped up EV, wanted the SC but they didn't have in stock.

I then stopped at a 2nd Lego store on the way home, seen nobody buying AOH, they also did not have SC in stock

My son wanted AOH. I was thinking its very cool and will get it for us but not right now, so I made us a generic Hoth Set:

Hoth Attack, and 3 Microfighters: AT-AT, Snowspeeder, & FO Snowspeeder & keychain to get another round of promos

**Also: Who from here was in the store saying they might have to write an apology on this website about all the bashing the AOH

    was that you @jaisonline

On the one hand, this set isn't worthy of display in the office of the "Car Wash King of New Jersey" (that's like a tier above regular CEO worthy sets) so you should probably avoid it.

On the other hand, you could always buy the set and just claim you're doing "market research"'for your next book.

It is sad but unfortunately when the invites are likely tied to buying levels or LUGs, I don't see much way for kids to get involved. Weren't many of the store's staff members telling invitees that they had to come alone?

I heard stores didn't pick the initial list. The LUGS did. Then if invites were leftover, I assume managers could then invite people

Saw AoH at the store and it was a lot bigger than I expected.  They offered me a damaged box one for extra 500 VIP points so I pulled the trigger on it.  I don't own any Hoth sets other than the at-at from last year so I am stoked to start my collection with this.

I'll say this from my experience. I stock trade (stocks, options, futures, etc) from seeing how the "mind of people work" when everyone thinks a certain way normally the opposite happens (everyone is bullish..be bearish and vice versa) if NO ONE buys this set and it does retire quick in a few years the set will be worth a lot (in my opinion of course) supply and demand..I think Ed mentioned something similar a few weeks ago. I agree about the UCS but I personally am fine with the purchase and with the freebies it is basically free...

I was also told at one store that they have to ship them all back. And then this morning at a different store they said that after the event since they had a lot left they are open to the general public on a first-come, first-served basis.

Did someone open the space slug? Sounds like there is a heavy booklet in it. Also, what is the set number? From what I heard about the leftovers is that the official view is that the sets will be sent back, but it is probably up to the store manager's discretion what to do with it.

Won't this be easy to bricklink?  Or just wait until all the pieces are re-issued in another set?

I'm looking at my box and there is no set number printed on the front or back. There's no set name printed either. It will probably end up with a special collection number like the SDCC sets do.

Should be. That's what I plan on doing. I've BL'd quite a few SDCC sets. As long as there isn't anything completely unique it will be easy once someone puts the inventory and instructions online. I saw there's an unboxing video up on Reddit already.

The Action Comics #1 SDCC is the only one I've come across so far with a unique piece. The roof is green and it only exists in that set. I had to sub it for a black roof. I thought maybe the piece would show up in a 2016 set but so far it hasn't.

Do some boxes have the piece count on them for the space slug? Saw some on here before which had the pieces, but just noticed mine hasn't.

Are you in the US? I'm in the US and mine had the piece count. But the photo leaks I saw on the German site (promobricks?) didn't have a piece count.
