FIRST IMPRESSION | Score: 10

My first LEGO set after 16 years.  The modular series definitely hooked me back onto LEGO.

UNIQUE PARTS | Score: 10

Sea green bricks baby

PLAYABILITY/BUILD EXPERIENCE | Score: 10
Great fun to build, loads of very thoughtful details incorporated. One of my favorite is the mouse and a piece of cheese tucked away at the back of the ground floor. There's even a small passageway that leads from the grocery store (behind cashier) back to the mouse's hiding spot.

Since it was one of the earlier modular sets, the first and second floor lacked a little from a furnishing perspective. But compared to Cafe Corner, it was a huge improvement. The grandfather clock, fireplace, radiator as well as fire-escape stairway at the back were all extremely well thought out (the stairway uses a number of harpoons to represent the handrail).

VALUE FOR MONEY | Score: 10
When it was still in production, I would say the piece to price ratio was very good.

THEME POPULARITY | Score: 10
The modular series seems to be very popular amongst older LEGO enthusiasts. I just hope they can continue to raise the bar with each new release.

EXCLUSIVITY | Score: 8
No longer in production

PACKAGING | Score: 8
Big box, regular packaging. There is a cardboard tray that can be pulled out from the box, where all the bags and instruction manuals are.

GROWTH POTENTIAL | Score: 10
This set is already worth somewhere between five to six times it's MSRP (MIB). The set that I own has been built once, displayed for 3-4 years and have been properly dusted/cleaned, dissembled and repackaged (according to the floors/storeys) and put back in it's box and is still worth more than twice what I paid for.

I believe there's still a bit of upside potential left especially for new LEGO enthusiasts that have only entered the world of modular buildings.

DISPLAY QUALITY | Score: 10
The sea-green bricks is beautiful. A very pastel and soft color that looks great on display.

CONCLUSION & FINAL ANALYSIS | Score: 10
The Green Grocer is in my opinion the best modular building in the series as all the other sets released afterwards have not really surpassed it in many ways. Some may have a higher brick-count (Town Hall), some have cool pieces (Fire Brigade) but the Green Grocer is still the most charming.
