MEMBER OWNS SET: YES     MEMBER HAS BUILT SET: YES

FIRST IMPRESSION | Score: 9

This set comes in a great box although I felt it was a little too large for the number of pieces inside. That said, the picture on the front of the box shows the potential movement you can get from the set.

The bags are numbered 1-6, and while some people don't like their bags numbered, I thought it was a great way to keep things organised.

The instruction manuals come in two books and are easy to follow. There is also a "comic" booklet which I guess Lego also uses for their X-Men Lego sets, as it's half filled with Guardians of the Galaxy, and the other half, X-Men.

Generally I was impressed when I first opened the set, and was excited to build it!

UNIQUE PARTS | Score: 10

This set stands a slight head above because of the 5 minifigs: Star-Lord, Gamora, Drax, Ronan and the Sakaara. All except Sakaara is exclusive to this set.

Star-Lord has two faces, and even comes with a different "head" for his mask that protects him. I really loved the mask - it has incredible detail for such a tiny piece.

The rest of the minifigs are very detailed too, and I especially like Drax with his tattoos.

This set has some unique pieces, and since I am not the most prolific lego owner it is hard to say if they are new. I find some of the spring-loaded "guns" very cool - I sure wish I had these to play with when I was young! - and some of the wing attachments are strokes of genius. I found myself wondering how cool it is to be a Lego set engineer as I was building this.

PLAYABILITY/BUILD EXPERIENCE | Score: 9

Great playability, as the Milano spaceship is chunky and has a great weight when you hold it in your hands. The other spaceship is a lot smaller, but has its merits too. The only fault for this set is the stickers - ARGH. It sometimes takes a few tries before you get the sticker aligned correctly, then you see on some of the transparent stickers that you have left your fingerprint on the underside - most frustrating. It's not that obvious of course, but it still bothered me to know that it's there :P

VALUE FOR MONEY | Score: 8

Personally I think Lego sets are overpriced, but given how much in demand these sets are, I guess it's a fair price to pay. Whether this has any investment value I really can't say, but if you are a Guardians of the Galaxy fan, you definitely SHOULD buy this before this set is retired!

THEME POPULARITY | Score: 10

If you like Marvel comics, be sure to get this as I am sure there are many out there who wants this!

EXCLUSIVITY | Score: 8

Not sure if this is exclusive, but it is fast disappearing in a lot of shops. It is even sold out on Lego.com until end of this month.

PACKAGING | Score: 8

Standard packaging.

GROWTH POTENTIAL | Score: 8

I can't really comment on this but looking at the general trend for Lego, I'm thinking it will increase in value - used or unused.

DISPLAY QUALITY | Score: 9

This set is aimed more for kids so it is meant to be played with. However I have it displayed and I love the way it sits. There is so much detail everywhere even under the spaceship, which makes for a great conversation starter!

CONCLUSION & FINAL ANALYSIS | Score: 9

In summary, the cons for this set are the stickers, and the inability to open the "glass" door (although it is easy to remove the top to see what's inside).

The pros for this set are numerous, so if you are a Guardians fan and/or loved the movie, you should get it!
