MEMBER OWNS SET: YES     MEMBER HAS BUILT SET: YES

FIRST IMPRESSION | Score: 7

The Cantina is pretty simplistic but has nice details. It can be displayed open or closed.  There is a small bar, and three separate alcoves - a musician's nook, a table where you can set up the Han/Greedo shooting scene (Han shot first!), and the entrance. The updated speeder with new color scheme and the dewback improve this set's first impression.

UNIQUE PARTS | Score: 10

The best thing this set has going for it, is definitely the minifigures!  7 out of the 8 figures are new and exclusive to this set.  The highly anticipated Bith Musicians make their appearance, as well as an updated Luke, Obi-wan, Greedo, and a sand trooper with some very nice printing.  Of course, another highlight is the Dewback maxifig!  A very impressive figure, with nice coloring and a saddle/harness included.

PLAYABILITY/BUILD EXPERIENCE | Score: 7

The build is simple.  There's some nice details such as a small rigid pipe piece that bends to make the bar and lots of dark tan and light tan pieces.  There's a large tan "bubble" windshield that forms part of the roof.  I was disappointed in the use of stickers - the speeder alone uses 4 stickers and the cash register on the bar uses one too (when I'm pretty sure there used to be a printed cash register piece).

For playability, the set is actually better than it may look at first glance.  The cantina can open up, the front entrance has a sliding "hanger-style" door, and there's a built-in mechanism that allows the 2 bar alcoves to "extend" and slide out for easier access.  This is done by attaching the vaperator on the back of the cantina which is attached with some long axles.  Of course, it also helps to have 8 excellent minifigs, the speeder, and the dewback!

VALUE FOR MONEY | Score: 5

With an MSRP of $69.99 USD, the set is a little high with a price per piece of 11.38 (this only increase in Europe with an RRP of 79.99 EUR and ppp of over .13.

Since many of the pieces are either small or pertaining to the figures, it really doesn't seem like you get a whole lot for the price.  The minigigures are excellent and since there are 8 of them (plus the Dewback), that certainly helps.

THEME POPULARITY | Score: 10

The Star Wars theme is very popular, and since this is part of the "original trilogy," I would rank it even higher on the scale.  Many LEGO Star Wars collectors only focus on OT sets due to the sheer number of Star Wars sets in total.

EXCLUSIVITY | Score: 5

This set is not exclusive in any way and readily available at all retailers.  Only time will tell if it's hard to find, but currently it is plentiful.

PACKAGING | Score: 9

This is part of the 2014 Star Wars line with Darth Vader on the box.  This is a sharp-looking art design and very nice looking.  The box itself is 23.1 x 11.1 x 2.3 so long and skinny and weighs 2.14 lbs.

GROWTH POTENTIAL | Score: 9

I believe this set has high growth potential because of the theme (Star Wars - original trilogy), the minifigures, and the dewback.

DISPLAY QUALITY | Score: 8

I'll give this set a little bump in display-ability since the scene is pretty iconic from the original trilogy.  The speeder and dewback also help.

CONCLUSION & FINAL ANALYSIS | Score: 8

PROS -

8 minifigures, many of theme with updated printing and some brand new like the Bith Musicians

Dewback maxifigure - iconic creature

Dark tan and light tan bricks

Updated Speeder with new colors

Star Wars theme and part of Original Trilogy

CONS -

small display set, especially in the "closed" position

high RRP and ppp - doesn't feel like you get a lot for retail price
