MEMBER OWNS SET: YES     MEMBER HAS BUILT SET: YES

FIRST IMPRESSION | Score: 6

I never have been a big fan of the A-Wing that's why I would not have bought this set for itself bout I got mine in one of these 3 in 1 battle packages.

What's really nice about the set are the minifigures! You get Han-Solo and Genereal Ackbar, as well as a new pilot minifigure.

So all in all it's solid enough for the price.

UNIQUE PARTS | Score: 8

To me the most important parts in this set are the minifigures.

General Ackbar is not really exclusive to this set but still it's pretty rare. (For me this is the most positive one about this set)

Secondly you get a new A-Wing-Pilot version which is nice, though I don't really like the design that much... but what can I say I'm more of a x-wing fan I guess ;-)

Last but not least there is Han-Solo, which is nothing new but still a nice addition to the set (though to my mind he does not really fit... if they would have added Lando Calrissian - as he was in command in third movie - this would have really given the set a uniqueness ;-))

Additionally you get a couple of not so common bricks as they are in a different color... nothing too special though.

PLAYABILITY/BUILD EXPERIENCE | Score: 6

It's small enough to let it fly (not actually flying!!! I mean you could throw it but... naaaa).

It nicely adds if you have a fleet and want to put them on display.

I don't really like the flick missiles but it might be a playability factor.

There are minifigures included... (to me they always have been the real deal when we are talking about playing ^.^)

Other than that I don't see too much features that would be outstanding in terms of playability or worth of being mentioned.

Build experience: not really difficult, nothing special about it, but it's a small set and the build is befitting I would say

VALUE FOR MONEY | Score: 7

7 Points... but only because of the minifigures! (Ackbar!!!)

Otherwise I would have given it 6 I guess. All in all as buyer the price seems to be reasonable but I wouldn't fancy the set enough to get it.

THEME POPULARITY | Score: 10

Star Wars... 10 Points...

EXCLUSIVITY | Score: 6

It's a small set that you can buy almost everywhere and if it wasn't for the minifigures that wouldn't be to much exclusive about it.

PACKAGING | Score: 7

My favorite section... the packaging... I still don't know how to deal with is haha :-)

It's befitting I guess. The minifigs are nicely displayed and the background also fits.

As the set itself is not really amazing in any way but rather standard it doesn't add much to the cover.

Other than that there really is not that much to say about it.

GROWTH POTENTIAL | Score: 6

I don't really see much growth potential in it.

It's a small average set and the ship is not really iconic. I mean we all have heard of an A-Wing before but B-Wing and Y-Wing will don't stand out either.

The X-Wing is more iconic and everybody who has seen the movies will know it for sure and that's why for most it's more important for the collection.

There is the Ackbar minifigure and some collectors might want the pilot. But I would not be surprised if they'd re-release General Ackbar (and other pilots...) in future sets.

DISPLAY QUALITY | Score: 5

Nothing special here... It's not really an eye-catcher but might add up to your fleet.

CONCLUSION & FINAL ANALYSIS | Score: 6

All in all this set is rather average without anything too special about it if it wasn't for the General Ackbar minifig (and maybe the pilot).

If you want to build a small fleet for display of course you will need an A-Wing.
It's also nice to have General Ackbar for your collection (Who else should warn your other minifigures that "It's a trap!!!"???)

For the price it's totally okay to get one and you or your children might enjoy it. (Though not as much as other sets ;-) But I guess you can say that about almost every smaller set ^.^).

As for investing I wouldn't count on it.
