MEMBER OWNS SET: YES     MEMBER HAS BUILT SET: YES

FIRST IMPRESSION | Score: 8

* Architecture series boxes are IMO best-of-breed and show well on the shelf.

* The tower's historical relevance is a plus considering most of this series up to now has centered around modern examples.

* Holds true to original's form.

UNIQUE PARTS | Score: 2

* Not a minifig or piece-count/part-for-profit series; look elsewhere.

* Should be able to rate N/A; this low score unduly lowers the overall score on a fine piece...

PLAYABILITY/BUILD EXPERIENCE | Score: 10

* As good as the final Tower looks on display, the true reason to purchase TLToP is the simplistic elegance of this build.

* As it is not a toy, no playability was intended... To wit: One of the build's coolest features is the finely balanced "lean" the engineers incorporated into the model, which requires the Tower be placed on high and enjoyed from afar.

VALUE FOR MONEY | Score: 9

* Look for your brick value elsewhere; not the droids you're looking for...

* It's historical relevance alone makes it a must-have piece, but with MSRP of $34.99 USD make it's price >The skyscrapers & Big Ben but < Trevi.

* Once built, the fact that it is a stand-out showpiece in a series full of impressive models makes it a great value.

* At under $30USD on sale at Wal-Mart & Amazon (US) it is IMO the best value currently available.

THEME POPULARITY | Score: 8

* No, Architecture is not a true "8" in gross theme popularity - more like a 2-3 considering most lego products are aimed for K-6 kids.

* But a lower score here seems to degredate its overwhelming potential for future regard; rarely are things like this fully-appreciated in their era.

* This theme popularity requires only time & exposure; too cool to be seen as anything buy art.

* Proof of the theme's reach: Someone as uninitiated in all-things-Lego as myself writing this review...

EXCLUSIVITY | Score: 6

* Easy online, hard in a store.

* It is a niche product; exclusivity due to what I would guess were cautious demand projections.

PACKAGING | Score: 10

* The boxes and manuals on these sets are minimalist, elegant in presentation.

GROWTH POTENTIAL | Score: 10

* Others on this site are far better qualified to explain & project CAGR et al. so I will not attempt it.

* Quality of product, packaging, functional use, overall aesthetic is high.

* These "toys" make masterworks accessible to all ages, learners.

* One can see, feel, do -  no talent necessary to gain a hands-on appreciation of art.

* I contend great art appreciates; my father laughed at all that money I was wasteing on graphic novels and now they are worth more than houses & cars.

DISPLAY QUALITY | Score: 10

* Only issue with this piece is that it does not belong on the same shelf as other smaller Architecture series pieces due to scale and historical relevance of the subject.

* My son and I have built all the sets in the series...  The start whiteness draws the eye.  Striking.

CONCLUSION & FINAL ANALYSIS | Score: 9

* Easy, satisfying build.

* Fair $

* If you have no appreciation for architecture you will gain one by constructing this set.

* If you have an appreciation for art you will find it shows well and makes for great conversation.

* Must-own for series enthusiasts.

* Looking for a plaything, a cheap source of pieces, or minifigures?  Move along... Move along...
