FIRST IMPRESSION | Score: 9

Massive box with awesome design features. This crane looks simply fantastic!

UNIQUE PARTS | Score: 6

NO minifigs of course but that the norm for technics sets. With over 1000 different pins this is the large piece count at 2606 pieces of any technics set to date.

Some notable parts are  2 large LA's, 4 small LA's, a small motor / battery box, a 32l axle and of course the new frictionless 8 tooth gears.

PLAYABILITY/BUILD EXPERIENCE | Score: 8

I had an absolute ball building this. Total build time for me was close to 11 hours, but I did have to go back and rebuild one section due to a miscalculation. The build is separated into 3 main sections the chassis, cabin and then the boom arm. Each cover of the 6 books states which part you will be building. I would say it is not repetitive at all.

Playability  is pretty good with pleanty of moving parts and of course the motorised crane functions themselves. Stabilising legs move outwards and down. The boom can be raised and then extended and of course the cranes hooks are lowered and raised.  Engine pistons move when the crane is moved. All the wheels are controllable giving the crane a surprisingly good turning axis.  The cabin and boom arm rotate through a full 360 degrees and the crane arm extends almost double its length.

The motor however struggles with certain features such as the extension of the stabilising legs.

The actual crane 'cable' has some issues with retracting and the gear will often slip a bit but the overall impact of this issue is minimal.

VALUE FOR MONEY | Score: 8

The RRP for this set in Australia is $279.99 giving it a PPP of just under 10cents. That being said the piece count is boltered by the amount of technic pins.

THEME POPULARITY | Score: 5

Ive always loved the technis sets but I seem to be part of a minority here. That being said, technics lovers will definately enjoy this set.

EXCLUSIVITY | Score: 5

This not a limited or exclusive set.

PACKAGING | Score: 9

Box is massive and very eye catching.

GROWTH POTENTIAL | Score: 6

Technics doesn't enjoy the growth of other themes but seeing as this is the biggest technics set to date it will be interesting to see how this set goes once EOL'd.

DISPLAY QUALITY | Score: 10

This set is huge and looks great when complete.

CONCLUSION & FINAL ANALYSIS | Score: 9

Awesom set. Large piece count.  Great fun to build. and some pretty sweet motorised features make this a technics fan favourite.
