FIRST IMPRESSION | Score: 7

My first impression - wow!  This set looks great on the box.  It reminds me of a model airplane.  I've been anxious to break this out and put it together, ever since I bought it.  It looks nice, and looks like a fun and complicated build.

UNIQUE PARTS | Score: 4

Nothing unique about the parts in this set.  There are no minifigures with this set.

There are a lot of wings in this set.  Large number of blue and bley pieces in this set.

PLAYABILITY/BUILD EXPERIENCE | Score: 8

Playability - this piece is more for display.  Even in a professional setting.  Part of the piece is a stand for this to be displayed on.  The piece itself is over 2 feet long, with a 2 feet wing span.  So you need space for it to be on display.  It is solid, and heavy, but I wouldn't fly it around the room.

Build experience is excellent.  Probably one of the best builds I've done in awhile.  The instructions are not necessarily clear - it takes some things, and paying attention to what is going one.  This set was on sale at the Boeing employee store, so you know that there are plenty of Boeing engineers that tackled this.  Which means they needed something a little challenging, so having challenging instructions is a good thing.

I was shocked at some of the building tecniques.  Not in a bad way, though.  Some of it was innovative (to me).  I liked the choices that were made.  I was a little surprised that there was some empty spaces.  But, I was amazed at the engineering behind the construction.

My one gripe - there is no detail to the inside.  Not a big deal, as you don't have access to the inside once it is built.  But, it would have been fun to have a couple of minifigures and sets into the airplane.

VALUE FOR MONEY | Score: 8

MRR on this was $79.99.  Incredibly good price for this piece.  Higher aftermarket prices are still a good value for a very nice set like this.

I can see some value in parting this set out, at the new price.  But now that this set is retired, and with the values that it gets in the aftermarket, it isn't worth it to part it out.

THEME POPULARITY | Score: 5

Not part of a particular theme.

EXCLUSIVITY | Score: 6

It is part of the "Sculptures" line (although not marked as such).  Set is no longer in production.

PACKAGING | Score: 7

The packaging is well done.  The box looks very nice.

GROWTH POTENTIAL | Score: 5

This set was released in 2006.  I believe it has plateaued, and will not see much in additional growth at this point.

DISPLAY QUALITY | Score: 10

This is a "wow" piece for display.  You will need room, with a 2 foot wing span, and a 2 foot long body, to display this piece.  But, put this at your office, and everyone will notice.  You will get a lot of people looking at this, and potentially get some people to come out of their dark ages with this piece.  I think it's that powerful.

This set just looks fantastic on display.

CONCLUSION & FINAL ANALYSIS | Score: 9

My overall impression is that this is an outstanding set.  If you have the means, pick it up.  It looks great, and is a lot of fun to put together.  From an investment standpoint, if you can pick one up at a low price, then you'll make some good returns on this.  You can hold it or flip it; I don't believe it will continue to climb in price. But it should hold value for a long time to come.  This is a really well done piece that has a lot of cross market interest in it.
