MEMBER OWNS SET: YES     MEMBER HAS BUILT SET: YES

FIRST IMPRESSION | Score: 9

When I first saw pictures of it, this set remembered me of classic space, maybe because of the white and blue color scheme. A closer examination nevertheless reveal that blue is indeed the rare azure color, and of course, the look of the ship is much more modern than any classic space ship.

UNIQUE PARTS | Score: 6

No very special parts, but usefull ones for MOCs, and especially the two large white wings, and some azure pieces.

Minifigs are interesting. The blue space guy can be seen as a huge update from classic space dudes : given the 4 colors of the 4 Galaxy Squad teams, there is (to me at least) a striking connexion with my old time favorite theme. This guy has a name (Mr Blaze), but I rather think of him as a regular guy from whom I can build a full space colony and populate the insect planet. The insectoid is very good, and one can also think about building an army of them.

PLAYABILITY/BUILD EXPERIENCE | Score: 10

That is the strongest point of this set, playability is extremely high, with a highly swooshable ship that also has great modification features. Any kid will love it (my 3-years old loves it).

VALUE FOR MONEY | Score: 8

At retail in Europe, that is a set with good value for money. The price per piece is low, although pieces are of a reasonable size. The fun kids are getting with it is also worth the little money this set costs.

THEME POPULARITY | Score: 2

And that is the weak point of the set : Galaxy Squad do not have a good reputation. And that is a pity. Almost all sets are very well done. Will time change this ? I really hope so.

EXCLUSIVITY | Score: 2

There was nothing exclusive with this set : it could be found everywhere.

PACKAGING | Score: 5

Nothing special about the packaging. The drawings suggest some un-friendly planet in the background, as well as they show the main features of the set.

GROWTH POTENTIAL | Score: 5

Frankly, if this set gets known amongst FOLs as it really is, It will be popular and sought after. This is the case of almost all Galaxy Squad sets. This may depend on the future space sets.

DISPLAY QUALITY | Score: 6

That is a noce looking ship, that displays well, but is a little small to be really impressive.

CONCLUSION & FINAL ANALYSIS | Score: 7

You may have understood that I like this set very much. But let's be frank. Would I recommend to get this set and build it ? Definitely yes. Would I recommend to invest in this set ? No, although I somehow did by buying multiples of it.
