MEMBER OWNS SET: YES     MEMBER HAS BUILT SET: NO

FIRST IMPRESSION | Score: 8

The day they released the first sets for The LEGO Movie this was the only set that caught my eye.  It was the best proportioned set out of the first wave that came out so I immedietly picked up seven of these.  Is this an iconic LEGO set? I'm going to say that it is now but I will put this in the top three sets for this movie.  The police car is bulky and well built.  I've seen multiples of the police cars sell on ebay.

UNIQUE PARTS | Score: 7

It comes with five minifigs, Emmet and Wyldstyle included, (which was another reason why I wanted this set) and three policemen.  As far as unique parts, I'm not an expert in that area just yet which is why I give I'm giving it a seven.  I do think it is worth noting that the panels on the Super Cycle come with stickers on them and the blue streaks are not painted on to the bricks.

PLAYABILITY/BUILD EXPERIENCE | Score: 10

I think out of all of the first wave of sets that this is handsdown the best one to play with.  This set played a very nice part in the first half of the movie and I really like how you can have a minifig press a button to allow spike strips to be released.

VALUE FOR MONEY | Score: 9

The price point is $50 but you should be able to get it cheaper.  I scored my seven of these sets for around $41.50 each.  As I said earlier this is one of the best sets when it comes to propotion so you are getting your moneys worth in that area.  I also think that this is a good price point for two friends to go and see the movie and then later in the weekend go in half on this set and build it together.  This price point is also good as a "gateway" set to bring some adults back into LEGO building.

THEME POPULARITY | Score: 8

I was originally going to give a seven but this movie is a proven money maker and this theme will only get stronger over time.  I know there are people that just invest in specific sets, Star Wars, Architecture, etc. but this should be one of the sets that people should consider.  The stronger the popularity this theme gets over the years the more these earlier sets will be coveted.

EXCLUSIVITY | Score: 7

This set is really not exclusive.  It's being sold everywhere but I don't see this set being produced past 2016 which is why I'm giving it a 7 and not a six.  These sets are popular but as time goes on they will become even more popular but I'm expecting this set to approach close to EOL when that happens.

PACKAGING | Score: 8

It's a nicely designed package and pretty sturdy.  I gave it an eight because from the first wave of sets this set seems the most apealing.  Some of the other first wave sets seem flimsy and cheap to me.

GROWTH POTENTIAL | Score: 9

Even though I gave a seven for exclusivity I can totally see this set going for around $125 many years down the road.  This set screams, "PLAY WITH ME!" and I think that is what a lot of people will do with it so unopened sets will be at a premium. Once the second and third movie comes out people will be looking for a few key sets to the first movie and I believe this set will be one of them.  Benny's retro spaceship coming out later in the year should be one along with the Emmet's Construct-o-Mech.  I'm still on the fence about how the Sea Cow will do but I digress.  The good news about the first wave of sets is I highly doubt they will be cranking these out during the next few years.  If the sequal comes out in May of 2017 then we should be only talking two years of production tops.

DISPLAY QUALITY | Score: 8

This set does display well and I think there will be plaenty of people that want to pick it up and examine the different parts when given the opportunity.  This sets tells the story of the first action seen in the movie which was quite an exciting scene and I think people who have seen the movie will be immedietly drawn to this set if they see it displayed.  This is definitly one of the better sets of the first wave that was released.

CONCLUSION & FINAL ANALYSIS | Score: 8

All in all I think this is a good set to purchase and definitly play with if that's what you like to do.  Time will tell if the ratings for this set will go any higher.  This is a great looking set to reintroduce adults into LEGO building and the price point of $50 shouldn't scare new LEGO enthusiasts away.  As I mentioned earlier, you should be able to get this set under the price point by at least 20% off which should make this set even more appealing.
