MEMBER OWNS SET: YES     MEMBER HAS BUILT SET: YES

FIRST IMPRESSION | Score: 9

On first impression this set has quite a bit of charm. It is an attractive looking carriage and horse. I liked it a lot, so much so it was the first one of the Castle (2013) series that I picked off the shelf.

UNIQUE PARTS | Score: 7

Not many unique pieces. But it has an interesting and clever mechanism for unlocking the cage door. The minifigures are all quite attractive with some double sided heads. I like how the new horses can rear up on their hind legs.

PLAYABILITY/BUILD EXPERIENCE | Score: 8

A smallish set so it does not quite have the same long term playability but would be welcome in just about any castles game. That said, I've never been a fan of flick missiles, which is how the ballista in this set works.

Build-wise this is quite a solid set. It is quite resilient and well constructed. Great if kids are at it!

VALUE FOR MONEY | Score: 6

Not too expensive but probably pushing the price just a tad.

THEME POPULARITY | Score: 9

The Castle (2013) series seems to be directed more towards the kids than adult collectors. This is a good and a bad thing for long term popularity. Kids will enjoy it forever but the adults might be a bit turned off. As for this set specifically, it is by far the best one as far as appealing to both age groups. I can't see how an adult collector of the Castle theme would not want this set.

EXCLUSIVITY | Score: 3

I think you can find this set just about anywhere at the moment

PACKAGING | Score: 5

I'm not sure the Castles (2013) packaging does the series justice. That applies to this box too.

GROWTH POTENTIAL | Score: 8

Castle is going to be a long term investment. dont expect a quick buck in the next year or two. I think this set has high hopes compared with the rest of the series. I can't see this losing value in the short term either. If you can find some discounted you are going to make some money as an investment.

DISPLAY QUALITY | Score: 9

Looks great. I can't really faults appearance. The carriage in particular has some great display options.

CONCLUSION & FINAL ANALYSIS | Score: 8

I think this is my favourite of the first 5 sets of the new castle (2013) series. I don't know how many more new sets Lego are going to release but this one is sure going to be a little hard to top.
