MEMBER OWNS SET: YES     MEMBER HAS BUILT SET: YES

FIRST IMPRESSION | Score: 10

I drive a VW Polo as a daily driver, and I have a VW Beetle (1970 model) as a weekend toy.

This set clearly creates an awesome first impression, due to the "cleanliness" of the lines of the van, as seen on the photos.

UNIQUE PARTS | Score: 8

No minifigures for this set.

In terms of unique parts, the clear 1by1 brick used in the engine bay area (although hidden once built) is a nice unique part, although would have preferred it to be more visible in the set.

The cloth used for the pop-up roof and also the "curtains" as well as the "Make Lego Models Not War" sticker is also a nice touch to the overall theme of the set.

PLAYABILITY/BUILD EXPERIENCE | Score: 10

I'm an AFOL, and I think this set is more suitable for those aged 16 and above.

The build was very enjoyable. Don't rush into the build (Mine was built over a period of 2 weeks, spending 2 hours per nite after work building it). You'll appreciate what the Lego designers have taken into consideration in coming out with a very awesome finished product.

VALUE FOR MONEY | Score: 10

I bought my set from a reseller in Malaysia. At current exchange rate of USD 1 to Ringgit Malaysia 3.20, my set was priced at equivalent of USD143.75.

I truly feel that my investment to purchase and build this set is totally worth it.

THEME POPULARITY | Score: 10

This set is a "Must-have, own and build" for any AFOLs.

Being a VW fan, I chose this set to begin my collection of Large Lego sets instead of the Beetle.

EXCLUSIVITY | Score: 10

This set is expected to be EOL soon, and there seems to be a growing interest of the set among Malaysian Lego enthusiasts. I was lucky to get mine at equivalent to USD143.75, as most Malaysian resellers are selling their sets at around USD170 price range.

PACKAGING | Score: 10

Love the packaging on the set.

GROWTH POTENTIAL | Score: 9

I strongly feel that the set, among Malaysian Lego enthusiasts, have just begun its growth potential. It's getting much harder to find the set among the resellers in Malaysia.

DISPLAY QUALITY | Score: 10

I'm getting a custom display set made for this set, as I love the detailing (Not 100% perfect, but very high 90%++). People love the VW splitties.

CONCLUSION & FINAL ANALYSIS | Score: 10

Without a doubt, a "must-have"....
