I have never considered owning a technic set to build until now. This set stunned me with the pictures online. The navy blue color really caught my eye unlike the original 4x4 crawler that comes in a neon orangy color. As soon as i discovered this set a few nights before its inital release i called up my lego store to see if any were in stock and they were! I ran out the same night and picked one up and got building. One thing i found really strange and confusing was that there are two numbered bags. (1,2) but 4 instruction books. Halfway through the 2nd book is when you will break open the 2nd set of bags which wasnt a problem just something i never came across.

UNIQUE PARTS | Score: 10

There are a fair amount of parts that are pricey if sold seperate. Some of these parts are the navy blue technic and the metallic technic parts. Oh and lets not forget the your exclusive lisence plate!

The power functions arnt unique as they can just be purchased from lego.com but they are what really what makes the set of value.

There arnt any mini figures in this set but that is expected for something of this nature.

I wish i could rate this 3 times. Let me start off with the first half of the build

The fisrt half was very difficult for me. i never built a technic lego set before and i screwed up few times and had to take some apart and go back some steps. for example if you put some peices to tight together you will jam the gear and take it all apart and its a B***h to take apart. And when i say this i mean it. It takes more time to take apart then to put together so dont screw up. I really did not enjoy the first part of the builld. It is very repeditive and gets very boring.

by the time your done with this your left with a very sturdy exoskeleton.... not exactly a monster truck

the second half (the actual detail) is very fun. Watching it piece together and actually make the picture is on the box. getting your hands dirt on those blue peices.

Now for the mobility.... Its cool. sure there are better remote control cars out there but common you build it! thats the coolest part of it all. I built this remove control car from scratch out of 1500 lego pieces. It dosnt go to fast but handles well

Also if it falls down the stairs it will survive

trust me.., it already happened

If this truely is a limited edition then it would be a solid 10. but assuming its not i can only give it a 6.

face it about 500 peices are the little blue and black structure rods... not to much money there net about .02 a peice. however it has 9 power functions and that is were the money is at.

If you were to peice this set out you could come ahead but only time will tell.... who know what the exclusive plate could go for

Technic has been around since the late 70s and theyre still producing new sets so that speaks for itself. These sets are not really sought after by investors and there return in the secondary is pretty darn good.

Only "20,000"

Coming directly from lego "Build the amazing LEGO® Technic model that you wanted made! Selected from over 1000 submissions, this remote controlled 4x4 Crawler Exclusive Edition was designed by a LEGO fan in Russia and then brought to life together with LEGO product designers. Featuring a cool auto on a massive set of 4x4 wheels, it features a whole host of cool features like dark blue bodywork – the first time this cool color has appeared in a Technic set. There are exciting chrome elements on the fender, winch and muffler, as well as a cool white line around the wheel rims. And as an extra special detail, each of the 20,000 examples of this exclusive edition model features a unique license plate number, so no two models are the same!"

Im ranking this a 10 for now. If lego does infact produce more but with out the exclusive plate itll drop to a 6. only time will tell

PACKAGING | Score: 9

Packaging is exclusive in itself and is really nice. The box is the same blue as the truck and does not have a picture of the set on the front. Also inside of the box has a lot of signatures. The peices come in 2 types of bags with the instuctions and stickers in another bag. All of the power functions are in small seperate bags scattered around the box. Only down side is you cannot determine your # from the outside of the box. You must open it to figure that out.

If lego does not produce more this set could see really nice returns really quickly. If they do well.... i dont know. Lets just say well be seeing this set for a long time and wont see any returns

When not being driven it sits nicely. Your better off displaying it on a lower serive rather then i higher because on the higher service you only see the stucture rather then the design.

All in all i rank the 4x4 crawler an 8. It is a very difficult build but pays off in the end. Just the fact that you built your own remote controlled car out of legos is awesome and somthing proudly to show off to your friends and family. This set is something to be proud of once it is built and is something to brag about to everyoneeeeee who sets eyes on it.
