FIRST IMPRESSION | Score: 7

The 7657 AT-ST is one of my favorite vehicles from the Star Wars movies. The AT-ST, also called the "chicken walker", was released in 2007 under the sub-theme of Episode IV-VI along with four other sets. The set comes with one minifigure and 244 pieces. When this set first came out, I remembered the scenes of the Star Wars movies where the AT-STs were destroyed by all the Ewok traps, so I wanted this set to recreate those scenes. That being said, I would consider this an iconic set, because of it's role in the movie.

Move out with the All-Terrain Scout Transport (AT-ST)! Patrol the forests of Endor or the ice fields of Hoth with this all-new version of the Imperial scout walker. Features side-mounted weapons and an opening pilot hatch straight from the movies. Turn the knob to make the cockpit rotate side to side! Includes AT-ST pilot minifigure with helmet and blaster! Features side-mounted weapon pods!

UNIQUE PARTS | Score: 6

The AT-ST comes with one minifigure and 244 pieecs. Here is the minifigure:

Imperial AT-ST Pilot

The AT-ST pilot comes with a blaster as his accessory. This minifigures is only found in one other set, which make the minifigure a rare one.

Now, let us look at the exclusive pieces in this set:

Light Gray Tilted Corner 4X4 with Angle:

43708

This set comes with one rare minifugre, and an exlcusive piece. That being said, it is an average set. I was expecting more rare pieces in this set and I wished that Lego had included a Ewok or two in this set to go along with the movies.

PLAYABILITY/BUILD EXPERIENCE | Score: 5

Build Experience

The AT-ST has a very simple build process. Since there are 244 pieces in the set, it took me about thirty minutes to build the entire set. While, building, it was very interesting to see how Lego incorporated a mechanism to allow the head of the AT-ST to turn. Other than that, it was a simple yet boring build.

Here is an overview of all the pieces in this set:

Here is a picture of the mechanism that allows the head to turn in either direction:

Here are some more pictures of the build process of the set:

Playability

This set does not have much to offer in terms of playability. There is a knob on the back of the AT-ST that allows the head to turn in either direction. You can also open the hatch on the top to see into the cockpit, but after that, there is not much else in terms of playability.

VALUE FOR MONEY | Score: 7

The AT-ST has a retail price of $19.99. Let us compare the Price Per Piece (PPP) ratio of this set to the other five sets that were released at the same time.

Set Retail Price Pieces Price Per Piece
7657 AT-ST $19.99 244 $0.08
7658 Y-wing Fighter $39.99 454 $0.09
7659 Imperial Landing Craft $49.99 471 $0.11
7666 Hoth Rebel Base $49.99 548 $0.09
10178 Motorised Walking AT-AT $129.99 1137 $0.11

As you can see, the AT-ST has a PPP ratio of eight cents. The set has the best PPP ratio out of all the sets it was released with. My standard for a PPP ratio is at or below ten cents per piece and this set falls into that category. That being said, the set is not a great bargin, but it is reasonably priced. In this set there is a wide variety of pieces so that PPP ratio may not be entirely accurate, so we will now look at the Price Per Gram (PPG) ratio, which factors in the weight of all the pieces in the set:

Set Price Per Gram
7657 AT-ST $0.046
7658 Y-wing Fighter $0.058
7659 Imperial Landing Craft $0.055
7666 Hoth Rebel Base $0.051
10178 Motorized Walking AT-AT $0.075

As you can see, the AT-ST also has the best PPG ratio out of these five sets. Since the PPG ratio is more accurate, it would be safe to say that this set is worth the retail price of $19.99, but another factor in determining if a set is worth buying is the part out factor. I will use values from Bricklink.com to determine if it is worth it to part this set out.

Item Value
Minifigure $4.75
Rare Pieces $2.94
Other Pieces $24.16
Total $31.85

As you can see, a majority of the part out value of a set is in the non-rare pieces in the set, which is the case for most sets. If there were sticker sheets, more minifigures, and more rare pieces the part out value would be much higher. Right now, the set is valued at $76.94 which means that the part-out value of the set is 59% or $45.09 less than the value of the set. That being said, it would not be a good idea to part out the set right now, instead sell the set in new condition.

Overall, I would say that this set's value for money as slightly above average due to the great PPP and PPG ratios, but it is brought down because of the poor part-out value.

THEME POPULARITY | Score: 10

The AT-ST comes from the Star Wars theme. The Star Wars theme has been popular since its debut in 1999 when Lego introduced that first Star Wars sets. Fifteen years later, Lego has produced over 400 Star Wars sets many of which are from featured in Star Wars Episodes IV - VI.  That being said, almost all the Star Wars sets sell very well in the primary market except for a few sets. Even after a set has been retired, many Star Wars fans want the set and the value of a set usually goes up. Usually, Lego sets are intended for children, but many Star Wars fans who are adults, have bought these sets and are contributing to the increase in value of these sets after they are retired.

EXCLUSIVITY | Score: 5

The AT-ST is not an exclusive set. This set was widely available when it was produced. You could find the set in a variety of stores like Toys R Us, Target, Walmart, and many others.

PACKAGING | Score: 5

The box for the AT-ST is like a typical set. On the front is depicts the AT-ST during battle on what seems to be Endor. There are also a smaller picture on the box showing the ability for the head to be turned in either direction. The back of the box has some more pictures that show different features of the set like the hatch to get into the cockpit.

GROWTH POTENTIAL | Score: 7

The AT-ST has a CAGR of 21.23% which is more than twice as much as the CAGR for the Star Wars theme. Now let us compare this set's CAGR to the other sets released at the same time:

As you can see this set has the best CAGR out of all the sets here. Time is a very crucial factor when determining the CAGR of a set, which is why I decided to compare the set to sets released at the same time. This set has been out for about seven years now and I think that it is at the peak of it's growth with very little growth left for the future. That being said, the CAGR will drop due to the time factor. Now, let us focus on the  past growth of the set:

As you can see, the growth of the set over the past two years has been mostly stable according to this chart. The set has appreciated in value 72.78% from it's value back in 2012 having it's biggest gain from 2012 to 2013 when the set rose over $20 in a year. From there, the set declined in value a little from 2013 to six months ago, but then had another significant gain over the last five months. Now, let us focus on the growth of the set over the past year:

As you can see, this set has a decline from March 2013 to June 2013 where the set dropped from a value of $74.27 in March 2013 to a value of $57.67 in June 2013. Since then, the set has slowly climbed back up in value to even higher than before. Since I think that this set does not have much growth left, I predict that the value will peak around $80 to $85 in the next year. I will finish off this section with a chart showing the number of sold sets in the past year:

As you can see, seventy-two sets were sold over the past year, making the average sets sold per month six. Usually, ther most sets are sold in December due to the December effect, but that is not the case here. The most sets were sold in November. My guess is that that is due to many buyers buying this set ahead of the Christmas rush.

There is always a possibility of having a set remade and affecting the value of the previous set. Lego did not make many AT-ST sets since their first one in 2001. That being said, I would guess that there might be another version remade soon. If that does happen, the value of this set may be affected a lot or a little. It will depend on the new set, but in most cases, it is a negative affect and the older version of the set declines in value for a period of time.

Overall, this set has a great CAGR right now, it had a great past growth, but it does not seem that there is must growth left for this set.

DISPLAY QUALITY | Score: 9

The AT-ST is a fairly small set so it can be displayed almost anywhere. The set is not very tall and not very wide, so it would be an ideal display piece for a mantel, a desk, or something similar. My favorite part of this set is it's ability to be displayed with it's "big brother" AT-ST. Here are a couple picutres of this set being displayed with the 10174 UCS AT-ST:

Here is how I display these two sets together:

CONCLUSION & FINAL ANALYSIS | Score: 7

Let us look at the pros and cons of this set:

Pros:

  • One rare minifigure and piece
  • From Star Wars theme
  • Great display quality

Cons:

  • Not an exclusive set
  • Boring build
  • Not much growth left

Overall, I would rate this a slightly above average sets that Lego has made.

FIRST IMPRESSION | Score: 5

The 6208 B-wing Fighter comes from the Star Wars theme under the Episode IV-VI subtheme. The set was released in 2006 with two minifigures and 435 pieces. This set does not wow me at all. The B-Wing Fighter is not very common in the Star Wars movies and there are very few scenes that have it. Due to this fact, I do not see this set as iconic and I never will. I would consider it iconic if it was shown in the movies more often. In my opinion, I do not think that this set is one that would be wanted. I first saw this set at a local garage sale with some other Star Wars sets next to them. When I was picking out the sets that I wanted to buy, I skipped  over the B-wing fighter because I did not like the set nor did I recognize it at the time. I only picked out the popular ones, but I eventually bought this one too.

Here is the description of the set from Lego.com

Build the Rebellion's heavy strike ship with this exciting set! Just like the classic Star Wars vessel, its wings can fold for flight or vertical landing. Challenge the forces of the Empire and use your launchers to save the day! Service tower doubles as a display stand for the fighter and can fold down for easy storage. Cockpit opens so you can put the B-wing pilot at the controls.

  • Includes Rebel pilot.
  • Fold the wings for landing or flight!
  • Missiles launch!
  • Service tower doubles as a display stand!

UNIQUE PARTS | Score: 7

The B-wing Fighter comes with two minifigures and 435 pieces. Here are the two minifigures: Rebel B-wing Pilot and Ten Numb

Image from Brickset.com.

This Rebel B-wing Pilot only comes in this set making him exlclusive to this set. The pilot is wearing his red pilot suit with a helmet.

Image from Brickset.com.

Ten Numb is also exclusive to this set. He is wearing his pilot suit with life support system and his head has a breathing apparatus.

Since the set has two exclusive minifigures, the set may be more desirable to certain collectors who want these minifigures.

As for rare pieces in this set, there are two:

Medium Stone Gray Left Shell 3 X 12 with Bow with Angle:

Medium Stone Gray Right Shell 3 X 12 with Bow with Angle:

This set does come with two exclusive minifigures, but there is not many rare or exclusive pieces in this set. That affects the desirability of the set. Even though there is a lack of rare pieces, the exclusive minifigures almost make up for it.

PLAYABILITY/BUILD EXPERIENCE | Score: 6

Build Experience

The B-wing Fighter comes with 435 pieces, which is not a lot compared to other sets lego has produced. Since the set has a little over 430 pieces, it took me about one hour to build the set. There are two parts to the set; the actual B-wing and the service tower. While building the B-wing I got to see how certain mechanisms are built into the fighter such as the two missles that can be launched from the ship. While building the service tower I noticed that certain parts could be moved so that you can out the B-wing on the tower. Overall, it was a slighty above average build for me.

Here is an overview of all the pieces in the set:

Here are some more pictures when I was building the set:

Playability

The set has numerous features that you can play with. The two smaller wings on the B-wing are adjustable. You can also open the cockpit so that you can place one of the pilots in the fighter. The fighter also has two missles that can be fired from the fighter when you pull back of the engine of the ship. Another feature of the set is the service tower. The service tower has two ladders on each side, it can open up to allow the fighter to land, and it has numerous places to hold tools and missles. There is one aspect I do not like about the fighter. The connection between the wings and the rest of the fighter is not sturdy. This section can be taken off very easily, and it someimtes falls off.

VALUE FOR MONEY | Score: 6

The B-wing fighter has a retail price of $34.99. Now, I will compare this set to the other 6 sets from 2006 in the subtheme of Episode IV - VI.

Set MSRP Pieces Price Per Piece for Retail
6206 TIE Interceptor  $19.99  212  $0.09
6207 A-wing Fighter  $15.99  194  $0.08
6208 B-wing Fighter  $34.99  435  $0.08
6209 Slave I  $49.99  537  $0.09
6210 Jabba's Sail Barge  $74.99  781  $0.10
6211 Imperial Star Destroyer  $99.99  1,367  $0.07
6212 X-wing Fighter  $49.99  437  $0.11

According to the chart, the B-wing Fighter has a PPP ratio of eight cents. That is the second best ratio when this set is compared to other sets. My standard for PPP ratio is ten cents per piece or below and this set fits into that category. That being said, I would not say that this set is a great bargin, but that it is a resonably priced set.  In the set there is a wide variety of pieces, so the PPP ratio might not be accurate. To have a more accurate information, we will also look at the Price Per Gram ratio, which factors in the weight of all the pieces in the set.

Set Price Per Gram for Retail
6206 TIE Interceptor $0.044
6207 A-wing Fighter $0.044
6208 B-wing Fighter $0.045
6209 Slave I $0.049
6210 Jabba's Sail Barge $0.052
6211 Imperial Star Destroyer $0.041
6212 X-wing Fighter $0.065

According to the chart, this set has a PPG ratio of $0.045 cents per gram. That is forth if you compare this set to the other sets. For the most part, these sets have similar rankings when you compare their PPP and PPG ratios. Now, taking both the PPP and PPG ratios into account, I would say that the value for the set is average. The set has a good PPP ratio, but the PPG ratio is not as strong.

Another factor that is included is parting a set out to make money. I will use values from Bricklink.com to determine if this set is worth it to part out.

Item Value
Sticker Sheet $11.87
Minifigures $23.16
Rare Pieces $3.24
Other Pieces $46.39
Total $84.66

Since the set has two exclusive minifigures, they are valued more than any regular minifigures found in multiple sets. The sticker sheet is also worth a lot of money in this set.  Currently, the B-wing Fighter has a value of $113.93. The part out value of the set is lower than the new value of the set by 26% or $29.27. That being said, it would not be a good idea to part the set out at the time being, instead, I would sell it in new condition.

Overall, the set has it's pros and cons for its value for money. The set has a strong PPP ratio, a lacking PPG ratio and a so-so part out value. After all those conditions, I would rate the value for money of this set as average.

GROWTH POTENTIAL | Score: 8

The B-wing Fighter has a CAGR of 15.9%, which is good compared to the CAGR of the entire Star Wars theme which is 9.18%. Let us look at the CAGR of the B-wing Fighter compared to the sets that were released with this set:

According to the above chart, the B-wing has the second best CAGR only being beat by Jabba's Sail Barge. Time is a very crucial factor when determining the CAGR of a set, which is why I decided to compare the set to sets released at the same time. Since the set has been out for eight years now, I do not see much growth left in the set. That being said, I think the CAGR of the set may drop due to the time factor. Now, let us focus more on the past growth of the set.

According to the chart above, the set has had some ups and downs for the past two years. One month the set is valued at over $110, and six months later the value plumets over $30. This set's growth is unstable when you look at the the growth in terms of years, but when you look at the growth over months, you can see the value slowly dropping and the rising again. Now, we will focus on the growth of the set over the past year:

Unlike the other chart, this one shows the value of the set from February 2013 to January 2014. It also shows that the set has slowly decreased in value for about six months and it's low for the year in August 2013 at $77.40. Ever since then, the value of the set has gone up almost back to where the set originally started in February 2013.  If this set would decrease in value again, I would expect it to start soon, because the value it approaching the high value where it started twelve months ago and the decrease in value could be prolonged due to the new B-wing being released this summer. To finish this section off, I will analyze one last chart of the number of sets sold in the past year.

Over the last year, over 70 sets have been sold averaging about six sets per month. According to the chart, 16 sets were sold in December due to something called the December effect. The December effect is when more sets sell in December due to Christmas buyers. Since there is a new B-wing fighter set coming out this summer, I can expect the number of sets sold will increase a little due to sellers trying to profit of these sets before the new set is officially released.

Overall, this set had a great growth potential. Most of the growth for the set has already happened, but there is a little growth left. The set has a good CAGR, but the value of the set is unstable at times and it can start to decrease at an given time, which could be very soon.

DISPLAY QUALITY | Score: 7

One of the many reasons I like the B-wing Fighter is because of the ability to display it using the service tower included in the set. The service tower sort of acts like a stand for the B-wing when you are displaying the set. If you were to display it this way, you would need some room due to the height of the B-wing, but it would still make a good display.

CONCLUSION & FINAL ANALYSIS | Score: 6

Let us look at the pros and cons for this set:

Pros:

  • Two exclusive minifigures and pieces
  • From the Star Wars theme
  • Good PPP ratio

Cons:

  • Not very iconic
  • Not much growth left
  • Acutal fighter is flimsy.

Overall, this set is an average set that Lego has produced.

FIRST IMPRESSION | Score: 10

Another great  Ultimate Collectors Series (UCS) set. The AT-ST ( All Terain Scout Transport).  Just over a thousnad pieces with one thousand sixty-eight pieces (1068). Looks just like the AT-ST's from the Star Wars movies Return of the Jedi on the planet of Endor. The set has many impressive details and a opening hatch to the inside of the cockpit. The set stands over sixteen point five inches tall (16.5'') which is about forty-two centimeters (42 cm). When I first saw this set, it amazed me, it looked  like it cam striaght from the movies and I got it at a cheap price. Personally I think that this set is already an iconic set and if I had the oppertunity, I would definetely buy more of these sets. Here is what Lego.com said on it's website:

Construct the ultimate Scout Walker!
The Imperial AT-ST (All Terrain Scout Transport), also known as the Scout Walker, carries the Empire’s forces swiftly and efficiently across the ice plains of Hoth and through the dense forests of Endor. Now you can build the ultimate collector’s model of this famous Star Wars™ vehicle from over a thousand LEGO pieces!

  • Fully armed and armor-plated, the incredibly detailed and realistic AT-ST stands over 16.5" (42cm) tall!
  • Features rotating weapons, an opening pilot hatch, moving window panels, and more!
  • Enemies of the Empire beware!

UNIQUE PARTS | Score: 7

The AT-ST is part of the Ultimate Collectors Series, so they usually do not have any minifigures, which is the case in this set. But there is an abundance of pieces in this set. There is one thousand sixty-eight pieces (1068). I consider that a lot of pieces for one set. Most of the pieces in this set are some color of gray, either light or dark gray with a few pieces in other colors. There do not seem to be any rare pieces in this particular set. The only piece that is rare is the mechanism that makes the cockpit (head) turn. There are no minifigures in this set, but the large amount of pieces makes up for that.

PLAYABILITY/BUILD EXPERIENCE | Score: 9

The AT-ST is not meant to be played with, but it is meant to be put on display onashelf or something else, but you can play with the set a little. You can move the legs to make it look like it is walking and you can turn the "head" from side to side, but overall this set is meant to be a display piece and not to be played with. If you were to play with this set, you can move the different guns and weapons around on the AT-ST.

VALUE FOR MONEY | Score: 10

I think that the UCS AT-ST is bargin. The set has one thousand sixty-eight pieces in the whole set, with a retail price on the set at $79.99 USD, the Price Per Piece (PPP) is seven cents ($0.07 USD) per piece. The current CAGR for the AT-ST is at fifteen point two percent (15.20%). Let's take a look at the other UCS sets.

Based on data values in USD, the AT-ST has a great value new with seven cents ($0.07 USD) per piece and a CAGR of fifteen point two percent (15.20%), which is abouve the mean average of all Legos, which is 11.36%, and above the Star Wars average, wich is 9.27%!

If you were to part out this set from your collection, it would be a good set to do so, being worth above $200 USD today. Great profit if you bought this set at a retail price of $79.99 USD or lower.

THEME POPULARITY | Score: 10

The AT-ST is from the Star Wars theme. Star Wars sets sell very well in the secondary market, especially if they are an Ultimate Collectors Series (UCS). The set is doing very well in the secondary market now, and will probably do better in the future.

EXCLUSIVITY | Score: 9

The AT-ST is not marked an exclusive set. It is not in limited production, and is not from and trade shows that I know of. Because the set is an Ulitmate Collectors Series (UCS), it is a Hard to Find item.

PACKAGING | Score: 9

There are no unique packaging or special markings on the box. On the front of the box, it shows three pictures of the  AT-ST with the backround being the planet of Endor.

GROWTH POTENTIAL | Score: 9

The AT-ST has a CAGR of 15.20%. That is well above the mean CAGR of all Legos, which is 11.36% and the Star Wars mean of 9.27%. The set is already EOL and has appreciated, and can appreciate even more in the future. The set has a great potential growth in the secondary market right now. Let's compare this set to other sets from the UCS.

DISPLAY QUALITY | Score: 10

The AT-ST is meant to be displayed. It is a great topic of conversation, because it looks like ic came striaght from the movies in Episode VI Return of the Jedi. The set has a lot of little unique details all over the set. Overall the set is an impressive set when it is displayed.

CONCLUSION & FINAL ANALYSIS | Score: 9

I would give the AT-ST a nine. It has many great things, but there are some bad things. Here are the pros and cons:

Pros:

  • Great building experience
  • Great Price Per Piece ratio
  • Comes from Star Wars
  • Great growth potential
  • Great display attributes

Cons:

  • No minifigures or rare pieces
  • Not meant ot be played with

Overall this set is a great set, with a great investmeant potentail and great display attributes!

UNIQUE PARTS | Score: 8

For this set, there are no minifigures. That is one of the sad features of the UCS. Only a few of the sets come with a minifigure. The set would have been better if they had added pilot or something along those lines, but that did not happen. Also the set is made up of normal pieces that are found in a lot of other set, so there are no rare pieces and colors. The only desirable feature about this set is that the set has a large amount of pieces, which is about fifteen hundred.

PLAYABILITY/BUILD EXPERIENCE | Score: 7

Playability Experience

The set is not meant to be played with. It is a massive set that would wiegh a lot, which may make it hard to pick up and play with.

Build Experience

The B-Wing Starfighter has about fifteen hundred pieces in the set. That would take me about three to four hours to build the set completely. A huge set like this is always fun to build.

VALUE FOR MONEY | Score: 6

The B-Wing Starfighter has a retail price of $199.99 USD. SInce there isone thousand four hundred eighty-seven pieces in the set, the PPP ratio is thirteen cents ($0.13 USD) per piece. I would consider that a bit high for me. I like PPP ratios that are at or below ten cents per piece. This set does not fit into that category. The set would be better if the set was on sale. The best sale was on May 4 and May 5, when the B-Wing Starfighter was 50% off. That means the retail price is $99.99USD. That means the PPP ratio would be seven cents per piece. That is a great deal. Let's compare this set to other sets from the UCS.

THEME POPULARITY | Score: 10

The B-Wing Starfighter set comes from the Star Wars theme. The set is under the Ultimate Collectors Series sub theme. These sets are the best sets, in my opinion, ever made by Lego. There are also some of the largest sets ever created. The Star wars theme is a very popular theme. Many of the set sell well in the primary market and there are often people scouring eBay to find a set at a better price or they are looking to get a set because it EOL before they could get it. Either way, Star wars sets sell very in both the primary market and the secondary market. Because of all the people who want these sets, the values for these sets will go up.

EXCLUSIVITY | Score: 7

The B-Wing Starfighter set is very exclusive. Because the set is a UCS, only a limited amount of stores sold these other than the Lego stores or online. The set was no in limited production. The set is not from any Lego trade shows that I know of. The set is  sold in the primary market anymore, so you can  get this set in the primary and secondary market.

PACKAGING | Score: 5

There is no unique packaging or special markings on this set that would differentiate this set from other Lego sets.

GROWTH POTENTIAL | Score: 4

The B-Wing Starfighter has a retail price of $199.99 USD. Since the cuurent value of the set is $182.82 USD, the CAGR for the set is -8.58%. That is a really bad CAGR. The set would have a better CAGR of the you bought the set on sale on May 4 or May 5 for $99.99 USD. That is 50% off the retail price. That would be one of the best investment moves I would have made. Let's compare this set to other sets from the UCS.

FIRST IMPRESSION | Score: 10

WOW! This is one of the biggest Lego Star Wars sets I have ever seen. The set has three thousand eight hundred three pieces and twenty-four minifigures. That is the most minifigures I have seen in a single Lego set. The set reallyed wowed me and I think that it will become an iconic set. Here are the various rooms inside the Death Star:

  • Trash compactor
  • Tractor beam generator room
  • Detention Block
  • Conference chamber.
  • Superweapon firing room.
  • Room that C-3PO and R2-D2 spent much of their time on the Death Star in Episode IV
  • Droid maintenance room
  • Emperor's throne room
  • Hangar bay with a mini model of Darth Vader's TIE Advanced
  • Room with crane, R2-Q5 and Death Star Protocol Droid
  • Chasm that Luke and Leia swing across in Episode IV
  • Room that contains two turrets
  • Room that has a missile launcher and various guns located under the super-weapon itself

Here is what Lego.com said about the set:

PLAYABILITY/BUILD EXPERIENCE | Score: 10

The set is very fun to play with. You can reanact all the scence from the Star Wars films that took place in the different Death Stars. Also, the set has about thirty-eight hundred pieces. That would take me about nine to ten hours to build the whole set. Building a big set is always fun. When playing with this set, it is endless.

VALUE FOR MONEY | Score: 6

The Death Star has a retail price of $399.99 USD. There are three thousand eight hundred three pieces. That means the CAGR PPP ratio for this set is eleven cents ($0.11 USD) per piece. I would consider that a higher PPP ratio. I like PPP ratios that are at or below ten cents per piece. This set does not fit in that category. Let's compare this set to other sets from the UCS.

THEME POPULARITY | Score: 10

The Death Star set comes from the Star Wars theme.

The Death Star is very exclusive. Because the set is a UCS, only a limited amount of stores sold these other than the Lego stores or online. The set was no in limited production. The set is not from any Lego trade shows that I know of. The set is sold in the primary market, so you can get this set in the primary and secondary market.

There is no unique packaging or special markings on this set that would differentiate this set from other Lego sets.

This is one of the biggest sets I have ever seen. The set really wowed me when I first saw it in my local Lego store. I think that this set is already an iconic set. The set has five minifigures and three thousand one hundred fifty-two pieces. Here is what Lego.com said about this set:

Dare to pilot Darth Vader’s™ deadly destroyer!
The Super Star Destroyer Executor has arrived! This jaw-dropping vessel is the personal flagship of Darth Vader, and serves as command ship at both the Battle of Hoth and the Battle of Endor. With its classic dagger-shaped design, the Executor is among the largest and most powerful vessels in the Star Wars galaxy. With over 3,000 pieces, measuring nearly 50"" (124.5 cm) long and weighing nearly 8 pounds (3.5 kg), every aspect of this fantastic LEGO® Star Wars™ model impresses. Includes 5 minifigures: Darth Vader, Admiral Piett, Dengar, Bossk and IG-88.

  • Includes display stand and data sheet label!
  • Center section lifts off to reveal command center!

UNIQUE PARTS | Score: 10

The set has five minifigures. Those minifigures are Darth Vader, Bossk, Dengar, IG-88, and Admiral Piett.. It is very rare to find minifigures in UCS series sets and especially this many. Only a few UCS sets have this many minifigures. The 10179 Millennium Falcon is one of them. For rare piece and colors, there does not seem to be any in this set.

PLAYABILITY/BUILD EXPERIENCE | Score: 10

The set is not meant to be played with. It is a massive set that would wiegh a lot, which may make it hard to pick up and play with. The only playability I can think of for this set is the mini Imperial star Destroyer. You could also

Build Experience

The Super Star Destroyer has about thirty-one hundred pieces in the set. That would take me about seven to eight hours to build the set completely. A huge set like this is always fun to build.

VALUE FOR MONEY | Score: 6

The Super Star Destroyer has a retail price of $399.99 USD. Since there is three thousand one hundred fifty-two pieces in the set, the PPP ratio is thirteen cents ($0.13 USD) per piece. I would consider that a little to high for me. I like PPP ratios that are at or below ten cents per piece. This set does not fit in that category.  The set would be better if the set was on sale. Let's compare this set  to other sets from the UCS.

THEME POPULARITY | Score: 10

The Super Star Destroyer set comes from the Star Wars theme.

The Super Star Destroyer set is very exclusive. Because the set is a UCS, only a limited amount of stores sold these other than the Lego stores or online. The set was no in limited production. The set is not from any Lego trade shows that I know of. The set is sold in the primary market , so you can  get this set in the primary and secondary market.

There is no unique packaging or special markings on this set that would differentiate this set from other Lego sets.

FIRST IMPRESSION | Score: 10

The Imperial Shuttle is a very interesting set. The set has five minifigures and two thousand five hundred three pieces. The set wowed me and I think that the set is already an iconic set. Here is what Lego.com said about the set:

Now you can build this iconic Star Wars™ vehicle in true minifigure scale for the first time!

The elegant Lambda-class Imperial Shuttle™ transports the Empire's elite and the occasional secret strike team of Rebel commandos all across the galaxy. Now you can build this huge and iconic Star Wars™ vehicle in true minifigure scale for the first time ever! The Imperial Shuttle is authentically detailed with rotating double laser wing cannons and a four-seat cockpit. This Ultimate Collector's model features an opening canopy, detachable landing gear, a stand for display in flight or landing modes, a labeled display plaque, and gear-driven folding wings with removable activation keys. Completed model measures 28" (71 cm) tall on stand and 22" (57 cm) wide with wings deployed. Includes 5 minifigures: Darth Vader™, Shuttle Pilot, Imperial Officer, Stormtrooper and Luke Skywalker™.

UNIQUE PARTS | Score: 8

The set has five minifigures. This is a rare feature for the UCS sets. Most of the sets do not have minifigures. The minifigures for this set are Luke Skywalker, Darth Vader, Shuttle Pilot, Imperial Officer, and a Storm Trooper. As for rare pieces or colors, there does not seem to be any. But the minifigures in an UCS set, will make the desirability for the set go up.

PLAYABILITY/BUILD EXPERIENCE | Score: 10

Playability Experience

The set is not meant to be played with. It is a massive set that would wiegh a lot, which may make it hard to pick up and play with. The only playability I can think of for this set is all the different minifigures.

Build Experience

The Imperial Star Destroyer has about twenty-five  hundred pieces in the set. That would take me about six to seven hours to build the set completely. A huge set like this is always fun to build.

VALUE FOR MONEY | Score: 8

The Imperial Shuttle has a retail price of $259.99 USD. Since there is two thousand five hundred three pieces in the set, the PPP ratio is ten cents ($0.10 USD) per piece. I would consider that a decnt PPP ratio. I like PPP ratios that are at or below ten cents per piece. This set is in that category. The set would be even better if the set was on sale. Let's compare this set to other sets from the UCS.

THEME POPULARITY | Score: 10

The Imperial Shuttle set comes from the Star Wars theme.

The Imperial Shuttle set is very exclusive. Because the set is a UCS, only a limited amount of stores sold these other than the Lego stores or online. The set was no in limited production. The set is not from any Lego trade shows that I know of. The set is not sold in the primary market anymore, so you can only get this set in the secondary market.

PACKAGING | Score: 5

There is no unique packaging or special markings on this set that would differentiate this set from other Lego sets.

FIRST IMPRESSION | Score: 9

Obi-Wan's Starfighter is one of the smaller UCS sets. I think it is the second smallest right after the Special Edition Naboo Starfighter. The set only has six hundrd seventy-six pieces. There are unfortunatly no minifigures in this set, but the set is very detailed. The set is the only set that has a astromech droid that is not minifigure scale. The set wowed me and I think that the set will become an iconic set in the future. Here is what Lego.com said about this set:

Blast off into The Clone Wars with Obi-Wan’s collector-series Jedi starfighter!

Now, you can build the ultimate LEGO version of Jedi general Obi-Wan Kenobi's Delta-7 Aethersprite-class Jedi starfighter! Larger and more detailed than any previous Jedi starfighter model, this limited-edition collector vehicle is equipped with twin laser cannons, a full cockpit interior and a wing-mounted R4-P17 astromech droid dome that rotates. With a buildable display stand and plaque, it's just the thing to pursue bounty hunter Jango Fett across the galaxy or battle swarms of Separatist fighters in space! Measures 9 in (23 cm) high on stand, 18" (47 cm) long and 9" (22 cm) wide when built.

  • Ultimate Collector's Series Obi-Wan's Jedi Starfighter!
  • Equipped with twin laser cannons!
  • Features fully detailed cockpit interior!
  • The dome of Obi-Wan's wing mounted R4-P17 astromech droid rotates!
  • Includes display stand, plaque and label sheet!
  • Model can be detached from display stand!
  • Measures 9 in (23 cm) high on stand, 18" (47 cm) long and 9" (22 cm) wide when built!

UNIQUE PARTS | Score: 7

For this set, there are no minifigures. That is one of the sad features of the UCS. Only a few of the sets come with a minifigure. The set would have been better if they had added Obi-Wan Kenobi, but that did not happen. Also the set is made up of normal pieces that are found in a lot of other set, so there are no rare pieces and colors. The only rare pieces I can see is the cockpit and the astromech droid. The inly desirable feature of this set is that the set is an UCS.

PLAYABILITY/BUILD EXPERIENCE | Score: 5

Playability

The set is an Ultimate Collector's Series set. The set is not really meant to be played with. It is more meant to be used as a display pieces. The only playabilty I can see in this set is Astromech droid head turning.

Build Expericence

The build experince for this set would be very short and normal. It is a small set. With about seven hundred pieces in the set, the set would take me about an hour to build the whole thing, which would not be very long.

VALUE FOR MONEY | Score: 7

Obi-Wan's Starfighter has a retail price of $99.99 USD. Since there are six hundred seventy-six pieces in the set, the PPP ratio is fifteen cents ($0.15 USD) per piece. I would consider that a really high PPP ratio. This set has the second highest PPP ratio out of the UCS. The first being the Special Edition Naboo Starfighter. I like PPP ratios that are at or below ten cents per piece. This set is way above my comfort zone. Let's compare this set to other sets from the UCS.

THEME POPULARITY | Score: 10

Obi-Wan's Starfighter comes from the Star Wars theme.

Obi-Wan's Starfightert is very exclusive.

FIRST IMPRESSION | Score: 10

This is one of my favorite UCS sets that Lego has ever made. Personally, I like the bigger sets like the Millennium Falcon, but this set is  like a technic set, which is one of my favorite types of Legos after Star Wars. The set has one thousand eight-five pieces. Here is what Lego.com said about this set:

Face the might of the ultimate General Grievous!

The towering cyborg commander of the Separatist forces lives! Wielding lightsabers in each of his four robotic arms, General Grievous prepares to battle the Jedi Knights in a fight for the fate of the galaxy. Standing 18 inches (46 cm) tall on its rotating display base and plaque, this detailed and authentic Star Wars model features poseable hips and neck and a split-apart chestplate revealing Grievous' organs hidden beneath!

  • Includes translucent "light saber" elements!
  • Model features poseable neck, arms and hips!
  • Split-apart chestplate opens to reveal Grievous' organs!
  • Includes rotating display stand! Stands 18 inches (46 cm) tall with stand!

UNIQUE PARTS | Score: 6

For this set, there is no minifigures. The set would have been better if they had a General Grievous minifigure like the 10225 R2-D2 UCS with an R2-D2 minifigure, but that did not happen. Also the set is made up of normal pieces  with technic pieces that are found in a lot of other set, so there are no rare pieces and colors. The only desirable feature about this set is that the set has a large amount of pieces, which is about one thousand one hundred.

PLAYABILITY/BUILD EXPERIENCE | Score: 10

Playability

I think that thereis some playabiltiy for this set even thought the set is an UCS. The neck, arms, and hips, are all poseable. That is all the playability that I can see for this set.

Build Experience

The build experience for this set is very fun. There is only a few sets in the UCS that are mostly made from technic pieces. This is one of the sets. Building the set would be very fun, especially with all the different technic pieces. Since there is about eleven hundred pieces in this set, it would take me about two to three hours to build the whole set.

THEME POPULARITY | Score: 10

The General Grievous set comes from the Star Wars theme.

The General Grievous set is very exclusive.

The Vader's TIE Advanced is a very detailed set. The set has one thousand two hundred twelve pieces. I think that the set is already an iconic set. Here is what Lego.com said about this set:

Construct Darth Vader's™ ultimate TIE fighter!

Rebels beware! The TIE Advanced x1 is Darth Vaders™ personal starfighter, heavily modified and customized by the Dark Lord of the Sith himself. With its enlarged, angular wings, extended ion engine block and reinforced hull, Vaders™ TIE can withstand and deliver far more punishment than any ordinary TIE fighter. Now you can add this incredible model to your LEGO Star Wars collection! The Ultimate Collector Series Vaders™ TIE Advanced is packed with realistic details straight from Star Wars: Episode IV, A New Hope, from the unique wings and body shape to the cockpit compartment and twin laser cannons.

  • Includes special display stand and collectors™ card with detailed specifications.

UNIQUE PARTS | Score: 8

For this set, there are no minifigures. That is one of the sad features of the UCS. Only a few of the sets come with a minifigure. The set would have been better if they had added Darth Vader, but that did not happen. Also the set is made up of normal pieces that are found in a lot of other set, so there are no rare pieces and colors. The only desirable feature about this set is that the set has a large amount of pieces, which is about one thousand two hundred.

PLAYABILITY/BUILD EXPERIENCE | Score: 9

Playability

This set is not really meant to be played with. It is more of a display piece. Saying that, I do not think that there is a playability for this set.

Build Experience

The set is a big set. With twelve hundred pieces, the set would take me about three to four hours to build the whole thing. A big set like this is always fun to build. My favorite part would be adding all the details to the set.

VALUE FOR MONEY | Score: 10

The Vader's TIE Advanced set has a retail price of $99.99 USD. There are one thousand two hundred twelve pieces in this set. This means the PPP ratio for this set is eight cents ($0.08 USD) per piece. I would consider that a good deal for a PPP ratio. I like PPP ratios that are at or below ten cents per piece. This set fits into that category. Let's compare this set to other sets from the UCS.

THEME POPULARITY | Score: 10

Vader's TIE Advanced comes from the Star Wars theme.

Vader's TIE Advanced  is very exclusive. Because the set is a UCS, only a limited amount of stores sold these other than the Lego stores or online. The set was no in limited production. The set is not from any Lego trade shows that I know of. The set is not sold in the primary market anymore, so you can only get this set in the secondary market.

There is no unique packaging or special markings on this set that would differentiate this set from other Lego sets.
