  1. Same thing with Arkansas. To my knowledge there are no buildings related to LEGO in the state yet I've been paying taxes from LEGO Shop at Home purchases for the past year and a half I've been investing.
  2. Picked up 21 of them for $1.49 each, along with an addition 5% off!
  3. Something I find that helps is when you make multiple orders is to ship them to different names (same address). For example, depending on how many multiple orders I make in a short period of time, I will use first/last name, middle/last name, only last name, my fiancee's first/last name (who lives with me), her middle/last name, and only last name. Usually I don't need 6 separate orders though. So far they've always shipped separate that way and I've done this with lego.com, amazon, target, and walmart.
  4. Maybe I'm missing something, but I live in Arkansas and to my knowledge there are no Lego stores in the state and I've had to pay sales tax on my online purchases for as long as I can remember.
  5. Well... that escalated quickly. EDIT: Also. I enjoy and appreciate DNIIM and his blogs and posts on these forums. "IF" he made an error here and there I wouldn't go around telling him he's stupid. He seems very level headed and not full of himself unlike some members on this site.
  6. I listed my 41999 on Thursday or Friday for $499.99 when the highest listed besides mine was $350-$400'ish. I've been raising it by $100 as the price gets higher. (Now mine is up to $799.99). My way of thinking is either A - the cheaper ones are going to keep being purchased until people who are asking for a ridiculous amount (like me) are the only ones left, or B - lego makes more sets and the prices crash. I'm a gambler so I'm going to keep asking more and more until there are only like, 5-10 sets available on ebay. Also, it makes me wonder.. the people who are buying these sets for $400-$500 now, are they people who are wanting to build and just missed the boat when the set was released, or people who think the price is going to continue going up and are investing at double retail value? I think this set is a real winner but I don't know how comfortable I'd be investing double in a set that has been out for less than two weeks...
  7. I use Amazon for selling and personally I feel like I sell items for more on Amazon than i do on Ebay. I feel it's a lot easier and it's easy to manage. The fees are higher than Ebay as mentioned, but I feel I can charge more to make up the difference. Also, I think Amazon feels more "secure" to buyers. Maybe it's just me, but I know as a buyer I'd feel more comfortable buying from someone off of Amazon than Ebay. But both are good for selling. Also, I believe there is an article about this. You may want to check it out. It's very informative!
  8. I worked in a Walmart deli my first year of college. Some of my coworkers had such poor math skills that when a customer would request say 2/3 pound of sliced meat, they would ask THE CUSTOMER if that was more or less than half a pound. God bless America.
  9. Off topic. Does anyone else who purchased at midnight still say "In process"? I don't know if mine is back ordered or not. I purchased pretty early (12:15 eastern) so I would assume I should be getting it soon...
  10. Before you checkout and you're just in your cart it will say you qualify for free shipping, it just doesn't apply it at checkout. I'm assuming they'll get it straightened out.
  11. Just purchased mine online. It charged me shipping but didn't charge me tax. I'm guessing it'll all get sorted out.
  12. Heh, well I'M the original pickle. I've been around these parts (mostly in hiding) since I believe September. You're just more talkative than me. ;P However, I'll be sure to watch my back.
  13. I picked up a Vampyre Castle for 30% off. Not the best discount but I didn't have any of this set prior so I figured now or never. Also picked up a mines of moria for 30% off. Really didn't save a whole lot on that one but I feel like I can make a few bucks off of it. My target still has a bunch of sets on clearance so I'll be checking every few days to see if anything else drops. They have a whole bunch of mirkwood spiders for $21. I'm planning on cleaning them out when it drops to 50%.
  14. Back in stock, BTW. Just picked up two.
  15. Bought 5 4439's on clearance at walmart today. Not a huge fan of the city theme but I'm a fan of anything when it's 60% off!
  16. I've a 3450 on display! Well, technically it's my fiancee's...
  17. Thanks for the clarification, Ed. :)
  18. Hey Stephen. I saw your post a few days ago, that's the main reason I wasn't sure if it was ok or not. On the other side, arock68 has a similar post from a few days ago. (Need to liquidate a lot of my collection. Anyone interested?), and Ed posted this. So I have conflicting views. However, as I stated, I don't want to be breaking any rules, so if it turns out to be against the rules, i'll understand. If nothing else maybe this post can just be a heads up that mine will be posted on ebay for less than the current lowest price available. (I believe the lowest on Ebay is $1,000 right now, I feel like I'd be happy around the $850-$900 area.)
  19. First off, I hope I'm not breaking any rules by posting this! I'm taking a trip this winter and I'm letting my Statue of Liberty go to cover some of the cost. I will be posting it on Ebay in a few days, but I figured I would post a heads up on Brick Picker first. (I'd really like it to go to a good home) Few details on the set. My fiancee is the original owner, she has had it ever since she was a kid. It is currently on display in our bedroom. It is a used set, but 100% complete. The instructions are severely damaged, but all there. It seems to be water damage. The cover page is torn off, but besides that all intact. No box. I have included a few pictures of the set and I can take additional, detailed pictures upon request. I will also post a link to the auction when I get around to posting it. If you would like to message me with questions or offers, I will get back to you as soon as possible!
  20. If that is the extent of the damage, I would keep them rather than going through the hassle of returning them and ordering replacements (with no guarantee the next two you buy being any better). The damage seems pretty moderate. I really don't see it hurting the value that much in the long run.
  21. Hello all, first time creating a thread, but i'm browsing through amazon and i'm seeing some pretty good deals. The ones that stick out so far are: Pet Shop 10218 - $111.59 Back to regular price. MMV 10193 - $90.00 http://www.amazon.com/LEGO-Castle-Medieval-Market-Village/dp/B001USHRCK/ref=sr_1_1?s=brickpicker-20&ie=UTF8&qid=1349363512&sr=1-1&keywords=medieval+market+lego Diagon Alley - 10217 $125.99 http://www.amazon.com/LEGO-Harry-Potter-Diagon-Alley/dp/B0048EKMMK/ref=sr_1_1?s=brickpicker-20&ie=UTF8&qid=1349363480&sr=1-1&keywords=diagon+alley+lego Tower Bridge 10214 - $178.55 http://www.amazon.com/LEGO-4657564-Tower-Bridge-10214/dp/B003Q6BQOY/ref=sr_1_1?s=brickpicker-20&ie=UTF8&qid=1349363445&sr=1-1&keywords=tower+bridge+lego and of course SSD - 10221 $335.99 http://www.amazon.com/LEGO-Star-Super-Destroyer-10221/dp/B0050R0YB8/ref=sr_1_1?s=brickpicker-20&ie=UTF8&qid=1349362947&sr=8-1&keywords=super+star+destroyer+lego I'm sure there are many more deals on amazon today as I just got on the site a few minutes ago. Not the best discounts but better than MSRP. Also, can't beat no tax (for us lucky ones) and free 2-day shipping for prime members!! Edited by Ed Mack. Thanks for the post...
  22. It appears to be over. I made two purchases on Monday with this promotion and I just attempted to make another with no success.
