That is awesome. Sucks some people think something cool has to be done by ill gotten methods but that is their their problem. Best moment of the day was when a little boy was so excited he just ran up and gave the Lego guy a hug. His mom promised him a Lego set after his hair cut and he was so beside himself and the smile was huge. One of the reasons that I love doing the garage sale. Seeing actual kids get the set and the joy it brings them. I just don't see that on eBay. I assured her the hug was cool, his mom was shocked when he did it but hey unbridled happiness is an awesome thing. We all have to remember what toys are for.

Day two wraps up with 43 sets sold for $2376.00 in revenue and a profit of $1245.09 - A number of repeat customers who added to their buys form yesterday and a lot of new ones who came for the first time. Started off slow and cold but picked up at lunch and throughout the afternoon. One more day to go Best year ever after two days and looking forward to tomorrow. Sold a galaxy Squad, two hobbits and even some Duplo boxes and towers.

I went rage shopping today because someone cleaned out a store in my normal area (while I was on my way to it) yesterday, so I went a little out of my normal range today, but it was worth it. About 2.5k worth of stuff marked down 75-80% off. Granted, half of that was TLM2 stuff, but even that I'll take at 75-80% off. The best part? Not one of the sets has a damn clearance sticker on it. Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh. :zen:

You all are crazy. I resold my Saturn V for $265 on Bricklink and didn't bat an eye. What are the "long term reselling strategies" left at this point? The only ones I can think of are with themes like Elves or Brickheadz that won't likely see remakes. The Saturn V is iconic and you'll likely see some redesign beyond simple nuance. Remember, NASA made a flew three types of the Saturn V rocket --We may even get a skylab module variant. Likewise, I'm sure the ship in the bottle will get a new ship design.

It is 5:30 in the morning here and I am getting myself ready for round 2. IT is cool to everyone who shared today some of the things people posted. I am glad that this effort is putting a little happy in the world - sometimes we need that And of course, last night on ebay I sold a 4492 Star Wars Mini Star Destroyer for $27.90. Won't get to the post office until Monday to ship it but I estimate the expenses will be 8.96 for a return of 11.53 or an ROI of 156% on a $7.41 buy in from 2004.

Nice job on the sales! Someone on Facebook posted about it saying how nice it was. Of course, trolls were commenting about how they think all your sets must've been stolen.

SO - Day 1 of the garage sale has ended. I sold 92 sets and generated 4663 dollars in revenue and generated 1895.83 in profit. To put this in perspective last year in the may garage sale my three day total was 113 sets sold for 4501 in revenue and 1495.48 in profit I am in utter shock and exhausted. I will now be restocking tonight - good problems to have!!!! (Can I do a $10K weekend????)

I thought the sky was falling when the DS got the extra cheese slope, then I was certain it was falling when they re-released the winter village toy store, then taj Mahal, then that Technic semi truck (I'm sure I'm missing some more). The moral is, it's happened before and we're still here moaning about it because the sky never really falls. Stick around long enough and you'll see that this is just part of the game.

Can we have more people comment on here how they are done with reselling LEGO because of this? Lol! Folks, move your crap when it's time and don't sit on 100 sets just for the sake of drooling all over them. Ya'll better dump all of your T1 Campers before the come back before Q4 2021. Not the point - The point is running a toy store for a couple of days. Meeting people, talking Lego . Seeing a kid get a new set and smile. having a customer talk to me about Lego and learning what investing is like - I do this for the fun of it and to make a few dollars

I have done this sale for a number of years. Last May (2019) I sold 113 sets for a total of $4100 . This will be the biggest one I ever do according to selection. 400 plus sets (120 different star wars) I have a reputation now as the lego guy but I am also the garage sale coordinator for the neighborhood so the press ads lead with Lego. I carpet bomb the neighborhood entrances with signs and provide ample direction to get to my place. I cover face book market place and Craigslist. The key, I believe is location, selection and pricing - I have the location (Troy, MI - suburb of Detroit well entrenched upper middle class, lots of traffic around the sub.) Selection - give them something so out of the ordinary from a garage sale they are overwhelmed. Once they get here it is no longer a garage sale it is a store and they treat it that way. Plus all the signs that say Lego priced as marked - no negotiation. Pricing, be reasonable - Look at eBay and take off some money for shipping and selling expenses. Don't try to get ebay prices (or Amazon) - Give the discount for buying from thew garage sale I still get idiots like the Craigslist guy who offered me $1200 for the collection I politely told him he was an idiot. But my ad says pricing is reasonable and how I price and put a disclaimer in there that you are not going to get a $100 set for $10 - that is not going to happen. Also, I sell nothing used - Damaged boxes yes but nothing that has been built or put together. Used implies discount. - I give no discount. I don't even open that door.

It’s been hit or miss in my experience. Shipping is fast no doubt but sometimes the boxes come well packaged and pristine and other times banged up. I ordered a Disney castle recently and it came in the original LEGO package box, just wrapped in black cellophane. Needless to say the box was all dented and banged up but contents were fine so wasn’t an issue for me.

The 18+ on the boxes of the reissues is a reminder for how hard TLG f#$%@d the resellers who went deep on that particular set.

I'd gamble we will see a remake of the Saturn V Rocket soon. I also wildly predict a remake of the Ship in a Bottle, which based on previous sales makes no sense. Now if only I could jump into set 21103 and provide this news to myself...

I hesitated to respond because you clearly didn't read what I wrote the first time. Ideas sets have limited shelf life. Creator sets (like the T1 - currently at 9 years) have very long shelf life. End set as Ideas (and the 1% royalty given to its creator) and relaunch as creator set so it can be produced for years (like the T1).

I think it's rather premature to sell it at such low prices. The Ideas 21309 was greatly underpriced by LEGO! I am absolutely convinced LEGO will readjust the price of the re-release version accordingly to match both the brick-count (1969 bricks, would normally hover closer to €190 at the average 10 cent per brick) and the popularity of the set. Even at a very meagre 7 cents per brick it would be already close to €140. I'd expect the re-released Saturn V to be around the €150 mark, so if you'd bought the Ideas set well below RRP back then, you'll be fine.

some things to consider before everyone finds the nearest bridge to throw there stock from. 1. they cannot re release sets permanently, they can't keep up with idea's theme as it is. 2. how long will the creator release be? stonewars says the duration of 2021, so maybe a 1 year release then gone again this is not the end of the world, people or collectors may still want the original over the re-release. 3. at some point the sets will retire, it just becomes even more important for set selection & buy in & maybe a longer waiting game. but they have to leave eventually. 4. this will spook the reseller market without question, especially people starting out, which is not a bad thing as its becoming a bit of a bandwagon, people in it for the long term will just adapt & evolve, we have seen it before with Taj etc just not as shotgun speed like this, so the aftermarket for Taj will be interesting. 5. is it exclusive to the Ideas theme, Idea > creator? as someone who goes deep on ideas sets myself this is a problem, but if it is only aimed at the ideas theme the damage is limited. if legosteve is correct and we are looking at 5 sets per year from sets less than 1 year EOL retired across multiple themes randomly, it will become extremely difficult.

Just to add to this - I ordered one. I've had mostly good luck with Zavvi and with no tax plus the $30 off it made sense for me. However, their add says free EXPRESS shipping but in the cart it shows free STANDARD shipping. I put in a complaint with them about it so we'll see what happens.

So Ninjago City is possibly being remade? Makes some sense with the rumored release of that Ninjago Garden set. Bad news for me...

I usually sell with "no box" and put all the bags in a shipping box. The resulting shipping box is usually much smaller and cheaper to ship than the original so its win-win one damaged box. I could probably pull $260 free ship like this to get rid of it and make $15.

At Grand Teton National Park, I hiked 17 miles round trip through Cascade Canyon to Lake Solitude. It's at 9035 feet elevation and the water is melted glaciers. So I jumped in and swam to the island. In the picture, my wet footprints are on the rocks - nobody nearby to take a photo of me.

No selling expenses so a return of $77.52 for an ROI of 110% 75953 Hogwart's Whomping Willow purchased on 12/27/2019 for $37.10 and sold for $55. No selling expense so a return of $17.90 for an ROI of 48% 75951 Grindelwald's escape purchased on 12/20/19 for $19.95 and sold for $17.00 No selling expense so a return of .05 for an ROI of +0 I knocked off a few dollars on the deal because she is literally my next door neighbor and she has spent $200 plus every year for the last four. Two more sets to sell and i have cleared 10% of the collection this year 🙂 IF you have been looking at some of my other posts here I am moving across multiple states next year to a home with a lot less storage space. started the year with 1350 sets across seven pallets in the basement. I have taken the view that selling is a lot easier and more practical then moving seven pallets. Would much prefer it to be four. My wife still questions my definition of practical.
