So to summarize: -A few people made good money QF this set when it was released because those 10,000 people that approved this set were too slow to order it -The set has has horrible sales since its release as evidenced by its sales numbers on eBay. Even after a 50% off sale it still lingered in EU and would not die while Hobbit's LM sold out in hours -The set is retired in Europe. Only people buying this turkey now are Slickdealers thinking they can flip it or new AFOLs who see it as good pieces for the price. -It may go above MSRP eventually, but your money would be much better invested in almost anything else from Mixels to Chima -People with fingers that look like sausages suffer from a serious medical condition and should seek medical attention if it lasts more than four hours. Maybe I'll actually look at the box when I go to the Lego store today instead of just ignoring it.5 points

2 rocks don't make a right but hey either way JW is a good line. No one ever said otherwise. Lots have made good money on this line with big shortages. Some said it was done entirely. Think that is the point to be careful of with new investors on the site as well. During the peak of the shortage saw some people saying they spent there last money on these hoping to make big money because they were going away. That is what some were trying to say is thats a big what if. The line has been restocked enough even though not fully that values are coming back to reality. Still could rebound for xmas though so if you didn't make some money now there is always then and of course after they retire as well for the long term holders.4 points

"Suggestive" that you're looking for minifigs? I can't imagine what that looks like, but part of me really wants to know.4 points

Or option #3 - stick with my day job, quick-flip, and hold long-term. Win-win-win. I just need to figure out a way to add a few more hours to the day.4 points

the only reason this set wasn't a big seller is because people were buying SSD and 9493. both of those are gone. this set will do just fine. this isn't just a remake of an x-wing UCS its the UCS of the ship that blows up the death star. we will probably never see another UCS RED 5 X-WING. it was 13 years between the first UCS X-wing and Red 5 releases. we'll see an Episode VII UCS X-wing before another OT one. so we're out to 2022 by conservative estimates. i'm up to 20 Red5 and will buy as many as I can without having to get off my a$$. i am starting to doubt that this will retire in 2015.3 points

Red 5 was an abysmal seller until fairly recently and Lego is just trying to use reseller panic and the upcoming SW frenzy to make their money back on this set. When I started buying these from my local Lego shop back in May, the seals on them were from early 2014. Due to the glut in inventory, I think this set caps out at 300-350 in the next 3-4 years. The returns on this set won't be great.3 points

I tinkered with the "B" pillars and undid the changes since the minifigs in the rear seats couldn't fit with Scooby in the center. In order to make this work these elements would need to prob be used : "4865 : Panel 1 x 2 x 1" and "47905 : Brick, Modified 1 x 1 with Studs on 2 Sides" with to create a SNOT design but it's tough to get Medium Azure in these types of elements (if at all). I applied the stickers and the van is looking better. I do need one sticker for each of the sides still. Heck, even my dog wants to play with it.3 points

DeLorean was almost universally reviled. hmmm, I found a brilliant strategy. Look for sets everyone on here hates and stock up on them...3 points

the largest lot I've personally found was just under 300 pounds. It was a standard bulk lot with some sets complete, some in pieces about 60 instruction booklets and 250 pounds of mixed bricks. Paid around $500 for it.3 points

Some do that as placeholders or whatever while they are away though, to discourage any purchases. I guess they don't know how to use eBay's holiday function.2 points

I've built the 42009 (and then the Ultimate 42009 which was great) - my 42043 is still in the box. If no one else has any input by the time I build mine, I'll let you know .2 points

Yeah. I never got the appeal of Exo-Suit anyway. R5 could be a great set if it were $50 less with no stickers and a Luke minifig.2 points

There is a time frame associated with it... I think it's 15 minutes. It's a neat feature to stop people who quote/reply, quote/reply, quote/reply but it does make the double post problem somewhat funny. PS You needn't "delete" the double post, we'll get rid of them as we find them. There is a time frame associated with it... I think it's 15 minutes. Ha ha...well if you are going to the Downtown Disney store, it is pretty much impossible to ignore...since it occupies every square inch of the "exclusives" shelf. "Oh look, a Pet Shop...let me see how many. Just....have...to....move...these 47 exosuits...there. Oh, there's 2."2 points

Several years ago I happened on a random garage sale that got rained out & cancelled, their ad said "toys & legos" so I stopped in just to see what hadn't been taken back inside (hardly ever find decent Lego anymore in yard/garage/boot sales around here) Turned out to be a former Samsonite employee's 30 year old collection... so what does one do with a tub of 5000x rare printed bricks that only came a single set in 1987? Last time they were available on Bricklink they were selling at $5 each.2 points

I found an older person sale that was a collector Lego statue, modulars all w/o boxed but still bagged like they never got around to building I bought cafe corner, market st and ucs batmobile kept cafe corner and sold the other 2 and paid for it all so I got cafe corner for free I have not bought much bulk from estate sales yet, I am stalking them weekly now in my area of NY2 points

It must be very hard to forecast demands for LEGO. When they made too few, the customers complain about scarcity and high price on 3rd party sellers. When they made just enough (based on the demand for 21102 Minecraft), they got inundated by wannabe QFLL returning their product en-mass... .. and some people wonder why LEGO hate re-sellers2 points

It's a scam. They will want you to photograph the back so they can use those numbers to steal parts from LEGO Shop at Home's replacement program.2 points

Why? The type of person who would buy a small, $20 knockoff toy isn't the same type of person who would spend hundreds for the real deal.2 points

Indeed! On the plus side, the manager felt bad and gave me an extra 10% off whatever else I wanted (plus 20% coupon, 10% CC Thursday, gift cards and TRU monkey math) I left with a Deep Sea Operation Base (and free Joker Bumper Car) for $69 which I may try to display in my fish tank. ...and he put a Louvre on hold with a note to honor the 20% coupon (not that there won't be on next month) US...and they cock chew-block-a'ed my advent love. No sale!2 points

Other the last few days I built the 7783 Batcave and I will put the stickers on this weekend. I am very excited to own this, as in general this was similar to building a new set as only the two vehicles had ever been built, all extra pieces were in the box, instructions were, and are, in mint condition, and the modules of the build were never put together, just a few random pieces stuck together for no reason. This is similar to 10937 AA Breakout in that it is occasionally an odd build but the end result is great, except for Robin, because he's Robin. I wonder why the Batcave needs a net gun though and the ramp should be one stud lower so that the Batboat can go out the same way it came in, if it wanted. I noticed that the zipline is too long for the set, so I added a tower to create line tension and the changing room is very clever but I don't not know what purpose the large cylinder serves . Overall, a BEAUTIFUL set and this will pair brilliantly with the recent AA.2 points

My first post of the forum! I Built the Tumbler as well today. It's an awesome set and I think it will be a winner after EOL. On the other note, what do you guys think of this "Hulk" Liberty? Built this a while back with Bricklink + PAB wall using lime green bricks. My friends been making fun of it but I think it's pretty neat.2 points

Here for the smooshers are images displaying all character pieces separated. A lot of unique ones for sure which should make any of these crazy critters quite easy to find. I can hardly wait to start hoarding, er, I mean collecting every single monster here. Man these are just wicked cool.2 points
