  • LEGO April 2016 US Event Calendar News

    jaisonline

Looks like Lego has some GREAT events and offerings planned for April.  Both AFOLs and KFOLs will be happy.  If you are unable to visit a Lego retail store, be sure to checkout their website at shop.lego.com for select offerings.

    Some highlights...

    • Various polybag and promo items based on money spent or themes: 1960s Mr. Freeze minifig and Elves Sira’s Adventurous Airglider.   Note: The Mr Freeze polybag is available with a purchase of $75 of more from April 1 to 15.
    • New sets (e.g. Angry Birds) will be on-sale.
    • Events for children include a minifigure swamp, Bumblebee build, Superhero builds and club meetings.
    • Maybe best of all is the LEGO Maze Competition that runs from April 11 to 15 (5PM daily).  For many, this should be our first look at the "21305-1 Ideas Maze" set.

Please review the calendar for more information especially exact dates.

Silly question - does buying a $75 gift card qualify me for the Mr Freeze polybag? I will probably be pretty satisfied with my collection by the time double VIP points are done and doubt I'll have enough interest to buy any sets worth $75 or more...

Somehow, I doubt it. This is a new one.  YMMV - You never know.

In my experience no, but you can use a gift card to earn the promotional item.

Newbee question with regards to lego promo items.    Lets say I am going to buy 2 sets at $99 each.       Can I order 1 set on (lets say a Monday)  to get the Dr Freeze promo,  and then order the same set 3 days later on Thursday to get another Freeze?      Thanks,  PP

If you look over LEGO's terms for past promotions, they specifically call out one promo item per household.

However, most people do not seem to have a problem placing an order, and then placing other orders, and getting multiple promos.  That could always change, and is probably subject to availability and abuse.

Considering the current February promotions don't add to the cart online when ordering a gift card, it is safe to say online is a no.

In store, I don't think the promotion would trigger automatically either so YMMV depending on the cashier.

The Nexo Knights intro pack will add to cart with any purchase.

It does not add to cart with a gift card purchase, which is what we were trying to figure out for the upcoming Mr. Freeze promotion.  The Robin's Mini Fortex does not add either.

Please explain to the forum why you would want to do this?

Could I buy a set, get the polybag and then return the set the next day?

How were u planning on returning it? With receipt that shows polybag? U bring set back, they subtract the value of the bag, that's one. Number two is that is.......not sure if stealing, but it ain't right buddy, so don't ask those questions here as you won't get help, sorry.

Are you the guy that took the minifigs out of the 9471 I bought at Walmart a couple years ago?

I need to figure out how to time my purchases... Was planning to buy all the new Elves in March during 2x VIP, but I could wait on these two with bonus points on the board to use towards Mr. Freeze promo. Any thoughts on how much bonus is bonus?

It all depends on how fast they sell out... If it's available for all 15 days, $10-$15 max is my guess. If it sells out in three or four, $25 or more would be reasonable.

The thing that is impossible to gauge right now is the success of 60's Batman. Without a product to come and go already (aside from the small batmobile from comic con - or wherever W it came from) you are guessing at the popularity.

Also with only the 60's Batcave as a LEGO set, some may choose to pass entirely meaning it'll be less valuable... Unless of course another set comes around...

As usual though, this is all speculation but one thing is for sure - it will have some kind of value!

So who plans on purchasing the batcave this month vs. April?

I def see the case for buying this month (March)

Since obtaining the freeze poly isn't tied directly to buying the expensive Batcave, prices should be around $15.  If it was tied to buying a batcave, prices would def be $20+ easily.  I personally think buying now vs. waiting for the poly might be the way to go since the VIP points earned will about 2x more than buying a Freeze on eBay during most of April.

There in lines the problem.  If Batcave does well and they release other sets, Freeze is all but guaranteed to show up again.  Either as a TRU promo (which may happen anyway) or in another set.  If that happens the resale window will be small.  If Batcave tanks, Freeze could go either way.  Rarity could push the value up, or there may just be no intrest.
