This is in my top three sets for sure. I have had this set for more than have my life and I was forunate to get it when I was very little. $300 was an incredible price to buy this for, even back in 2002. I would recommend this set to everyone, even people who do not like Lego, because not only is the build fun, but it looks great on display! It is a must have.
I think that the Imperial Star destroyer is a great set to have. Let's look at the pros and cons of this set.
Overall, I think that this set is great to have, build, look at, and invest in.
The 10030-1 UCS Star Destroyer, my favorite set. This set is the one that woke me out of my "Dark Ages" and started the whole BrickPicker movement. Over 3000 pieces. An Ultimate Collector's Series Star Wars set . Accurate in appearance. Classic ship. This price of this set is already in the stratosphere and heading into outer space! Only the Millennium Falcon, 10179 is badder than this set. As with the 10179-1, this set is still appreciating very well, with a gain of over 5% last month(Fe...
Here it is! The set that brought me out of my ‘dark ages’. The iconic Imperial Star Destroyer 10030.
Released in 2002 and I had to have one as soon as I saw it. At the time it was the largest Lego set ever produced with 3096 pieces and when the box arrived I couldn’t believe they had made a set so large. Unboxing it I remember looking at the spiral bound oversized instruction booklet in awe! I new I was going to be in for an epic build.
Building it was a fantastic experience and I rem...
The 10030 is one of the top display sets LEGO has ever made. I have this set in my office and it is quite spectacular. A very tedious build, but well worth the effort. I know this set has appreciated very well over the years, but if you are lucky enough to find a quality used one, buy it, build it, enjoy it. You won't be disappointed.
